Graphic Differences#

Buy Menu Graphics#

All of the Buy Menu previews are reused from Counter-Strike 1.6, while the final game instead uses the icons from Condition Zero.

Early (Counter-Strike 1.6)

Final (Condition Zero)

Radio#

Early

Final

The prototype is only a black background, the final has a green exclamation mark and a transparent background.

Maps#

The prototype includes maps in the hl1-wc-maps/cstrike folder, most of them being ported from Counter-Strike 1.5.

These maps feature modifications, such as their textures have been updated with the $surfaceprop parameter, which defines surface material properties and was absent in the original textures created by Macman. Also fog was added to all maps, but it does not function, due to its implementation using an older version of the Source engine via the Map Properties, rather than the env_fog_controller entity.

Also, the metal box at Bombsite B's backsite positioned where it appears in Counter-Strike: Source and later game versions, rather than its location in the original Counter-Strike.

This map appears to have been ported from Counter-Strike 1.6, as it includes models of trees, bushes, etc.
It features a different water texture for the river, designed specifically for the Source engine, as well as ambient sounds from Condition Zero that were never used on this map in any game version. Most of these sounds remain unused in the files of the retail game version.
