This is a sub-page of Proto:Blockland/Beta7.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. |
Player Model#
|
|
To do: |
The player model is styled similarly to a mix of actual LEGO minifigure parts, but is much more blocky and Legally Distinct in design.
- In the model, the head is specifically assigned a "yellow" texture, meaning it could not be customized in-game to be any different color at all even if an option existed.
- The following player parts are missing:
- Septplume accent
- Triplume accent
- Female chest
- Cop hat
- Flare helmet
- Knit hat
- Skirt hip
- Slim arms
- Hook hands
- Peg legs
- All shoulder accessories
- The bicorn hat is present; however, it lacks an icon in the player GUI.
- The plume is only available for the scout hat and is merely a flat texture, placed on the left side of the hat. In retail v1 all plumes are 3D and are available for all hats, appearing on the right side of them.
- The icons for each player part resemble actual LEGO minifigures, which is not accurate to the playermodel in this build. These icons are leftovers from the older LEGO figure playermodel.
Decals#
|
|
To do: |
- The following player decals are missing:
- ORLY
- Tunic
- YARLY
- DareDevil
- Pilot
- Police
- Prisoner
- All decals are stored within the "player" directory. Retail v1 moves them all to their own folder named "decals". The naming scheme is slightly different, with each decal having the prefix "decal". Retail v1 instead prefixes them based on theme, while the blank "None" decal has the prefix "AAA", which forces it to the top of the list.
- Each decal has a resolution of 512 x 512. Retail v1 shrinks them down to 256 x 256.
- The "new space" decal was completely redesigned for retail v1.

Retail v1 |

|
|
|
- The suit decal has a more prevalent emboss effect on the buttons. It seems to still be somewhat present in the retail v1 decal, albeit much more compressed, likely a result of it being downscaled.

Faces#
|
|
To do: |
- All faces are present, only a few with styling differences.
- All face textures have a yellow background, instead of being transparent in Retail so the head can be re-colored.
- "smileyBlonde" is called "smileyIce1" and "smileyOld" is called "smileyIce2" in this beta.
- "smileyIce1" uses different coloring for the hair, with white and black outlining, with a bit less refined look for the outlining.
|
Beta v7 |
Retail v1 |
|---|---|
|
|
|
- "smileyFemale1" has a simpler, but different design in the beta, with hoop earrings that didn't make the migration when it was redesigned for retail v1.

Retail v1 |
|---|---|
|
|
|
- In the "Faces" folder there is a PSD file present which contains every available face separated into layers. The LEGO smiley from v0002 is present on the bottom-most layer.
Animations#
|
|
To do: |
- These animation files are different:
- death1
- look
- These animation files are missing:
- plant, rotcw, rotccw, shiftaway, shiftdown, shiftleft, shiftright, shiftto, shiftup - All of these building-related animations being missing implies that players remained fully still while building in this beta.
- sit
- undo
- wrench (Action of using the wrench)
- The rest of the animations are completely identical to the final.
Misc Differences#
- These files in the playermodel folder are leftovers from v0002:
- minifig.cs, minifig.cs.bak
- splash.png
- "footprint.png" is a leftover asset from stock Torque Game Engine, carried over from v0002.
- The various text files defining part lists are different:
- chest.txt, hip.txt, LArm.txt, RArm.txt, LHand.txt, RHand.txt, LLeg.txt, RLeg.txt, secondPack.txt are all missing in the beta, as you couldn't customize these parts at all.
- pack.txt is identical.
- hat.txt only lacks newer hats that didn't exist yet.
- accent.txt only lists available accents, and doesn't list which hats each accent is allowed to be used on.
- "dtsScene.cfg.bak" appears to be a very old left-over file (from 2001) of some sort of 3DS Max 7 configuration file for exporting dts shapes.
- "test.cfg.bak" appears to be another left-over 3DS Max 7 config file, this time from March 2003.
- "decal.ifl" and "Face.ifl" files exist in this folder separate from the player model.
- "player.cs" is uncompiled here.
