Zaxxon is the first isometric video game, and also the first to get a TV commercial. Needless to say, this was a massive hit for Sega!

Unused Graphics#
The logo for Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. can be found with the rest of the copyright graphics, but it's never used. ITC both developed this game's hardware and program code.
Revisional Differences#
After realized the massive success of Zaxxon, Sega quickly made an updated version of the game, called Super Zaxxon, where various tweaks to the game were made to be more challenging. Although it failed to replicate the large success of the original, it still managed to be a success by its own, feeding the appetites of players looking for a challenge.
Gameplay#
The gameplay is largely identical to the original, but with significant differences:
- The game is now much faster-paced. You move twice as fast than the original, requiring a LOT OF precision.
- The graphics are different (e.g. the floor base is now green instead of blue). Although this is more of a viewing difference, it can still change ones perspective after they have gotten used to the graphics of the original.
- The placement of things (fuel tanks, gun implacements, etc.) in the first and third area is different from the original.
- The outer space battle sequence was replaced with a new one inside a narrow tunnel.
- Instead of 20 fighters, you now have to deal with 25 fighters inside the tunnel.
- A new enemy, the Mine Layer, is introduced. As the name implies, this ship lays mines in your path. You can destroy the mines but it takes a few hits.

- In the original, Zaxxon is a robot, who must be beaten once to proceed to the next level. In Super Zaxxon, Zaxxon is a dragon, who must be beaten thrice (following the RGB scheme in the image) to proceed to the next level.
- There are now indestructible, elevated guns in the first area. These guns sit on the right side and they are 2.5 units in altitude.
