A half-second of flasher wang.

This article is marked as NSFW! Switch off your Tobazon, grab a bowl of Bouziouli, consult some forgetful wisemen, and do battle with the Bigwig, Schnibble style.

To do:
A lot of the graphics and animations here have compression artifacts and need to be re-ripped.

Planning Images#

ESCD02.vmd

An animation of Woodruff with a simplified color scheme. The red stripes on his pants and the skull on the back of his shirt only appear in a couple of frames, and his headband and shirt are dark blue instead of black, as are his boots. He appears to be taking what looks like a third boot out of his pocket. The blank last frame is part of the data.

Labo.vmd

A rough version of the mad scientist's laboratory, showing the walkable areas and outlines of Woodruff, the mad scientist, and the Fertility Wiseman. The handwriting translates to "To reach the first map".

woodruff-earlyformula.png

A blocking version of the formula composition screen, complete with small Woodruff for company.

Battlefield

Watch on YouTubeThe high morals club gets a taste of Friday night in the slums, as Woodruff (a secret flasher) parades his lower half for all to see.

Bigwig's Room

The Bigwig's lair in various stages of planning. The sprites on the right side show a softer version of the Bigwig and unused bloody skulls and arms. The moustachioed man is never seen.

Alternate Scenes#

woodruff-sectlevitate.gif

Woodruff levitates miles into the air when giving the sign of the Schnibble to the sect. Normally, he only rises off the floor a small amount.

Sect Game Over

Watch on YouTube

A seemingly earlier version of the game over for becoming part of the sect, with Woodruff endlessly walking into
the sect room and reappearing. In the final, the voice-over plays while the game over screen (correctly paletted
and centered) shows.

Injured Bouzook

Different versions of the wounded Bouzook from the battlefield. Here, though, he's in color talking and giving the horn to Woodruff.

Azimuth Photo

The version of this sequence used in-game is a combination of all three of these. The photo is pulled out of the boot like the third sequence instead of out of a pocket, and shown to the player like the second. The photo used, though, is the first.

Unused Scenes#

Watch on YouTube

The bystander in the first scene doesn't react to being shown Azimuth's photo, but this reaction exists in the game data.

Watch on YouTube

A foreground sequence of a Boozook trying to climb over a ledge, then falling back down. It's found amongst the videos from the prison tower.

Watch on YouTube

A human and a Bouzook on the lower level of the bar watching a ball on the billiard table roll around until it disappears down a hole in the center.

woodruff-vacuum-woman.gif
woodruff-vacuum-woman2.gif
A woman flying on her vacuum cleaner outside the top of the prison, both with and without Ri-Ri's house in shot.

In the game, the police are always talking to the woman in the above images, rather than this guy.

This bouzook, while sad, is never seen crying in the game.

Watch on YouTubeA similar animation to these is used when trying to cross the acid river with one boot. That's only in the left-wards direction, though, and without both boots on.

Watch on YouTubeIn-game, if you leave Woodruff idle or use items incorrectly, an animation plays. If you do this while Woodruff is in the foreground, however, nothing happens. Twelve foreground reactions most likely intended for these situations do exist in the game data, but aren't used for whatever reason.

Hidden Letter#

Watch on YouTubeThis sequence isn't unused, but it means taking Azimuth's previous letter literally and searching behind the Bigwig's portrait. To do this requires waiting for a weather report predicting winds outside of the Bigwig's place and then using the levitation power on the cross, with no prompts whatsoever. It provides a bit more detail into Woodruff's backstory.

Unused Subtitles#

The map files used by the engine have text for every conversation in that area, but the subtitles are never displayed.
