Two Crude

In Two Crude, you take control of one of two mercenaries hired by the American government to stop the terrorist organization "Big Valley" and retake control of a ruined New York City after a nuclear explosion the group caused.

Pump It Up, Hey Cool!

To do:

  • Find other things, such as unused graphics, music, hidden text/screens, etc...
  • Graphic changes between versions.

Regional Differences#

Title Screen#

Japan/Europe

US

Aside from the redesigned game title and the modified copyright, the US version removes the redundant "Data East" from the title screen.

Region-Specific Screens#

Japan

US

If you do this, you won't be so cool 'n crude!
Cool 'n Crude people don't use drugs!

The screen shown before the Data East logo and the attract mode is completely different. The Japanese version displays a standard export copyright notice on boot, while the US version displays the (blatantly obligatory) FBI "Winners Don't Use Drugs" screen common of the era. None of these screens are present in the European version, which instead goes straight to the Data East Presents screen.

Gameplay#

  • Like Bad Dudes, pressing 2P Start will put both Player 1 and Player 2 in the game in the Japanese version. In the other versions, pressing 2P Start will only bring Player 2 into the game.
  • In Crude Buster the player takes control of the character instantly, while in Two Crude the character automatically moves until he picks up the first broken car (1P) or the first beam (2P).
  • Stages 2 and 4 are swapped in Two Crude, although their difficulty was swapped accordingly, with Stage 4 being made easier and Stage 2 harder.

The beer machine that contains "Budtmiser" beer (a blatant Budweiser rip-off) was changed into a soda machine containing cola. Even the Budweiser-like seal was changed to an arm lifting weights with "POW" written next to it.
