Twin Cobra for the NES is a port of the arcade shoot 'em up developed by Toaplan. It's actually good and competent, considered being developed by Micronics.

Unused Text#

Both versions have the same set of unused strings for the missing player select screen, indicating that the game was to have support for two-player mode:

1 PLAYER
2 PLAYERS
1UP
2UP
HI,SCORE
PLAYER 1
PLAYER 2
GAME OVER

And more strings for the different screen with the hi-score and hits percentage:

SHOOTING DOWN
PERCENTAGE
TODAY'S TOP

Ending#

US

  • The ending text was rewritten for the US release to be less wordy.
  • The staff roll was completely disabled in the US version. Only the "THE END" message is displayed after the ending text. However, the staff text is still present in the US ROM, and it's mostly the same as the Japanese one, just with one difference: one of the names under Special Thanks in the Japanese version Y.KAZZO was changed to K.YAGI (Kazuo Yagi) in the US version.
  • In the Japanese version, the "THE END" screen will display a password — "KTTAISONMAI89PRTN23Y".

What was this used for? Also, does it mean anything?

Miscellaneous#

In the Japanese version, when your plane gets hit during a boss fight it will move forward as it explodes. This will respawn you slightly ahead of the spot where you died. This was changed for the US version, where the plane will stay in the same spot.
