This is a sub-page of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation has a number of differences between versions, especially between the regional releases of the PS1 version.
PS1 Revisional Differences#
In the context of notable revisional differences, there are these four PS1 releases:
There's the first release, the EXE dated at 1999-11-11, referred to here as "NTSC-U v1.0", with some missing contents - oddly, this is the version available for download from the PlayStation Network.
There's the second release, the EXE dated at 1999-11-17, referred to here as just "PAL". While there are different PAL-region language-based versions, they seem the same in the case of revisional differences - they'll be added here, once some noticeable ones are found.
There's the third release, the EXE dated at 1999-11-23, referred to here as "NTSC-U v1.1", and finally the fourth one, the EXE dated at 2000-05-23, referred to here as "NTSC-J".

General differences |
|---|
The default menu option during the title flyby is |
The text at the bottom of the Inventory screen, and its color are |
A game over message was added, allowing the player to directly re-load a saved game upon death, instead of being ejected to the title screen. |
Either the enemies are weaker, or your weapons are stronger. |
How many save slots there are, assuming a clean memory card. |
There is a number in parentheses next to the level name in the game save slot that represents how many saves have been made, so the player knows how many times they have saved the game - just like on the PC version instead of gameplay time taken |
The Statistics screen reads "0Days" instead of "0 Days" (only affecting the first few levels)? |
There is a bug that allows flares to be spawned indefinitely in the crouching position, useful for speedrunning. |
The blue rectangles on the Statistics and Memory Card screens are saturated |
The buttons used to change the Jeep controls are |
The button used to put away binoculars is |
Angkor Wat |
|---|
Can Von Croy's tutorial speeches be skipped? |
A door was added right after the swimming tutorial, fixing a minor sequence break in which Lara could avoid letting Von Croy cross the bridge, but still trigger the next tutorial cutscene. |
Can Von Croy's "The Garden of the Five Towers" speech be skipped? |
Is there a cinematic camera once the door to the end of the level is opened? (no matter if the easy or hard path is chosen) |
Race for the Iris |
|---|
The race clock position changed from upper right corner to upper left corner so that it is not obscured by the health bar? |
There are spikes at the beginning of the level, after the initial slide? (no matter if the easy or hard path is chosen) |
Tomb of Seth |
|---|
Shotgun shells were added to a slope early in the level, that slope is now more flat and is textured differently |
The geometry in the #3 secret area (round room with circling spikes) was modified to include more platforms, making it easier to exit the room without losing health. |
The #3 secret includes an extra block in the reward room, and removes a scorpion. It also contains the Uzis instead of the Shotgun. |
The big Sphinx room received various updates:
|
Exclusive camera has been added when stepping on the first tile in the jumping-on-transparent-tiles puzzle room |
The Sands of Time sculpture room received various updates:
|
Burial Chambers |
|---|
There's a flyby that shows the secret door in the sarcophagus, where the mummies attack you? |
The wall covering the right half of the staircase (on the side of the room entrance) before the encounter with the two jackals sitting on the pedestals has been removed, but there is still a texture that looks like that wall? |
Enormous shortcuts exist in the 'spinning octagon' room. Mainly because there are no spikes blocking the door to the scarab, making it possible to take a running jump from the top of the ladder and bypass the entire room. Because of these missing spikes, there are texture differences, mainly the textures where the spikes would have been are replaced with something else, but they're not the only ones. |
KV5 |
|---|
The geometry of secret #1 has a small hole, making it more obvious, that you have to crawl through? |
There's an additional medipack between pillars, referred by the community as Unreachable Medipack |
The pillars next to the community-named Unreachable Medipack have proper collision, and are colored more red than brown? |
The 2 squares of sandy slope after secret #3 were made less sloped to allow backtracking without Jeep, preventing the player from getting stuck in case they get ahead without their Jeep. |
The geometry of the route to secret #4 is slightly different - there is an additional solid wall in the part of the ladder above the secret gap. |
More rocks have been added near the end of the level to prevent shortcuts with the Jeep. There is an “illegal slope” where a player can easily get stuck. |
Sacred Lake |
|---|
There is a trapdoor in the opening that connects the lake to the Sun Goddess courtyard, which can be closed depending on how you play and can get you stuck if you forget important items. |
Texturing errors related to the monkey-swinging section. Also, one texture just above the slot (left side) is slightly different (hieroglyphs instead of sand). |
The second crawling section (after the one after the monkey swing) has different geometry and textures on one height level - it is sloped at the bottom and top rather than flat and has one additional hieroglyph texture. |
City of the Dead |
|---|
Different geometry related to the gate closest to the start - in total there are 3 more columns and the gate is one square further from the lever |
Street Bazaar |
|---|
In the bull section the crates are missing and a flares pickup has been moved. |
Temple of Horus 1 |
|---|
The boss theme plays. |
Lara says "no" each time she puts a Holy Scripture on a pedestal. |
Flyby appears to show you the 4 pedestals for Holy Scriptures when you drop down on the ledge to the right to the column of blue light. (The safe place after descending the ladder). |
Temple of Horus 2 |
|---|
The boss theme plays. |
PC Revisional Differences#
|
|
To do: |
The final version is PC exclusive, i.e. the 2nd PC version, and it adds rocks to the end of the driving section in KV5, to stop players from blazing through.
