The Battle Cats

please suggest an unused sprite with a clock or something

This game is still under active development.
Be aware that any unused content you find may become used or removed in the future. Please only add things to the article that are unlikely to ever be used, or went unused for some time. If they do get used, please remove them from the page and specify in the edit summary!

The Battle Cats features an army of mutant Cats, ready to take over the world... and you're going to lead them to victory.

Unused Cats#

Note that only Cats not tied to collaboration events should be included here, as a lot of units in the Japanese version aren't in the international versions.

Evangelist Cat#

The_Battle_Cats_Evangelist_Cat.png

Evangelist Cat is an Uber Rare Cat made in Version 2.0 that could only be obtained exclusively from PONOS employee business cards that included a serial code required to unlock this unit. Serial codes were scrapped in Version 4.3, making this unit completely unobtainable on normal means and remains as a Nintendo Switch exclusive on The Battle Cats Unite! as a replacement for Filibuster Cat X (which is used to this day) after clearing Cats of the Cosmos as the clear reward.

Toy Machine Cat#

Toy Machine Cat is a Special Cat also made in Version 2.0. It was accessed via a promotional event in Japan, where capsules from vending machines named "gashapon" (onomatopoeic for "gacha" and "pon") could contain serial codes that could be redeemed to get the unit through 3 serial codes. The event has long since ended, making this unit unobtainable. Like Evangelist Cat, nowadays it's a Nintendo Switch exclusive on The Battle Cats Unite!, where you need to roll 30 Cat Capsules and then win any stage in-game.

ネコチーター#

Nekocheeter.png

ネコチーター (Neko Chītā, Cheetah Cat) is an Uber Rare Cat added in Version 11.7. It can only be obtained through cheating, referring to what may be an anti-cheat joke that interprets in a homonymous way its name, noting it could mean altogether "Cheater Cat" and "Cheetah Cat". Its name has no official translation in English, so it is displayed in Japanese. No evolutionary forms.

のべにゃん#

The_Battle_Cats_155_0.png The_Battle_Cats_155_1.png

Yet another unobtainable Uber Rare Cat. The unit was made in Version 3.1.1 but was hidden in the game's data with no way of obtaining it, until its files were removed in Version 8.7 and made the unit show as an invisible placeholder Basic Cat. Its name has no official translation in English, so it is displayed in Japanese (though later it was removed alongside its files, leaving it blank). Part of partner-works with @Nobe_tto (のべ〜っと); possibly how the unit got its name.

Unused Enemies#

21#

Enemy ID 21 shares Zoge's (ID 286) sprites and animations, but has completely different stats. This enemy slot has always been unused; it and ID 22 separate the enemies found in the original mobile phone version of the game, ending with The Face at ID 20, from the ones added later on, starting with Ms. Sign at ID 23. It seems that the slot was used to test Zoge's animations, and the developers simply forgot to delete the unused data. Also, in previous versions, the image file for this enemy housed a red Master A. recolor; this was presumably an early version of Professor A.

564, 565, 566, 567, 568, and 569#

These new enemies were added in the 10.9 update. All of them have the Aku trait, but otherwise have stats identical to Doge (ID 2). They come sandwiched in between Wicked Axe Cat and the new enemies in the update, so they'll presumably be replaced with the other 6 Wicked Cats in future updates.

The_Battle_Cats_Unused_Wicked_Titan_Cat_Spritesheet.png

Most of these enemies use a duplicate of Doge's animations as a placeholder. However, ID 569 instead uses a blue version of Brainwashed Titan Cat's animations, corresponding to a possible Wicked Titan Cat. This animation was added in update 12.1; before then, it used the same placeholder Doge graphics as the others.

Unused Graphics#

Mr.'s Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Mr_Unused_Sprites.png

Mr. and his evolved form, Super Mr., use the same spritesheet internally, even though Mr. carries an assault rifle while Super Mr. uses a bazooka. Also, the sprite sheet has an unused missile in it. This same missile would later be used in Tricycle Cat's spritesheet.

Tricycle Cat's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Tricycle_Cat_Unused_Missile.png

Tricycle Cat's spritesheet includes an unused greyscale version of the missile it normally shoots in its attack animation.

Biker Cat's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Biker_Cat_Unused_Sprites.png

Biker Cat's spritesheet has considerably more unused sprites than its pre-evolution, including three unused missiles, a sonic boom, and a red version of the spikes it normally ejects from its front wheel to attack. It seems that it was originally meant to fire a much bigger missile than its pre-evolution; the missile is still present on the in-game model, but does not animate and is set to 0% opacity.

Cat Gang's Spritesheet#

TheBattleCats-Catganglegs.png

Cat Gang's spritesheet has a unused set of legs in it. Altought it's still present in the in-game model, the animation data always has the opacity set to 0% in all animations. It's unknown where these could been used.

Cat Base Mini's Spritesheets#

All three members of the Cat Base Mini evolution line have unused sprites.

Cat Base Mini

Cat Base Jr.

Cat Base Mini and Cat Base Jr. both have duplicates of the wave effect from the Cat Cannon. In-game, both of them instead use the same wave effect as every other unit. The_Battle_Cats_Cat_Base_Ultra_Unused_Sprites.png Cat Base Ultra doesn't have the unused wave effect, but it does have an unused Li'l Cat head present. It's unknown where it would have been used, as it's too big to fit inside the base's door or the top port.

Drumcorps Cat's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Drumcorps_Cat_Unused_Sprites.png

The spritesheet for Drumcorps Cat includes sprites for two additional Cats, a tuba, drumsticks, and particles relating to them. However, in-game, only the leading Cat with the baton is used.

Kachi-Kachi's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Kachi-Kachi_Unused_Sprites.png

Kachi-Kachi's spritesheet has one more unused frame of animation for the tanuki in the top-right corner.

Supercat's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Supercat_Spritesheet.png

Supercat's spritesheet includes four rectangles, coloured dark yellow, cyan, magenta, and dark green, respectively. These are not assigned to any parts on the model. Strangely, they're also nowhere to be found on the spritesheet of Mightycat, the basic form.

Bakery Cat's Spritesheet#

The_Battle_Cats_Bakery_Cat_Spritesheet.png

There's an unused impact effect on Bakery Cat's spritesheet. Technically, the sprite is used during gameplay; however, it's set to 0% opacity, so it never renders during the attack animation. It also appears on Boomerang Cat's spritesheet, where it "animates" in the exact same way. The_Battle_Cats_Restored_Bakery_Cat_Anim.png Here's what it would look like if restored. It's probably for the best that it was scrapped, as it doesn't appear anywhere near where Bakery Cat would usually target enemies.

Unused Talent Orbs#

The_Battle_Cats_Talent_Orbs.png

Graphics made in Version 9.7 exist for Talent Orbs that target Traitless enemies. However, these orbs can't be obtained in game, so the graphics go unused. Relic Talent Orbs used to be unused prior to Version 9.7 too, until they were officially implemented on Version 13.3.

Unused Aku Death Surge Soul Sprites#

The_Battle_Cats_Aku_Soul_Unused_Sprites.png

The Aku death surge soul has two unused eye sprites, for a partially-closed and fully-closed eye. In the final game, its eye always stays open.

Unused Levels#

To do:
Get footage of these levels in action.

Old Weekend Stage#

When first introduced, the Weekend Stage had 3 stages like all other weekly stages. However, later on, a new Weekend Stage under the same name was added, comprising 6 stages. The old Weekend Stage remains in the game, however.

===Old Autumn = Sports Day!=== The Autumn = Sports Day! event also initially had 3 stages, but was later expanded to 8 alongside gaining a new exclusive enemy, Pigge Back. The old 3 stages — Athletic Meet, Anti-Halloween, and Winning and Losing — remain, inaccessible. The stage designs for them were reused in the new Autumn = Sports Day!, in Gotta Warm Up First, Dad, No Videos!, and Faster Barefoot, respectively.

Unused Abilities#

Warp on Cats#

The GUI to search for Cats with specific abilities includes an option to search for Cats with the Warp ability. However, Warp is an enemy-exclusive ability. If hacked onto a Cat unit, the Warp ability does work as intended.
