Tecmo World Golf is the lesser western cousin of The Perfect Golf with a lisp.
A vast amount of content was cut from international release with the remainder mutated to some degree. Videos and course info sheets for nonplayables are removed. 1-4 player support was reduced to 2 player support.
Renamed Courses#
Only 101 of the 266 courses from "The Perfect Golf" are available, each given an imaginary name instead of romanizing or localizing the Japanese course names. The choice is a bit baffling considering the publicity states the game includes real-life Japanese courses.

Rebuilt Courses#
Odd names and removed content are par for the course as far as a regional releases go, but for some inexplicable reason all maps were scaled down 5% laterally but not vertically. This shortens the holes while de-facto making them steeper.
The image to the right overlays a wireframe model of a hole from Tecmo World Golf on top of the original Perfect Golf data. The vertical (z in this case) remains the same, but all lateral dimensions (x & y) are scaled by exactly 95%. This also extends to the object placements, tees, and holes.
Additionally, when a vertex would be too near another as a result of the scaling it is deleted, merging any face relying on it to the next-closest vertex. The effect is fairly minimal; in course 040 shown here, only one vertex and ten faces relying on it were removed.
The order of vertices in faces shifted from (1, 2, 3) to (2, 1, 3), a practice that continued into Eikou no St. Andrews but was reverted in The Perfect Golf 2 and Japan Pro Golf Tour 64.
