TV Board Games

TV Board Games was a series of Plug & Play units with digital renditions of board games, many of them being licensed from Hasbro. A total of five different units were released:

  • Three 3-in-1 units
    • tvbg3a - Silly 6 Pins, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Match 'em
    • tvbg3b - Battleship, Simon, Checkers
    • tvbg3c - Boggle, Connect 4, Roll Over
  • Two 6-in-1 units
    • tvbg6a - Candy Land, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Silly 6 Pins, Match 'em, Mixin Pics, Checkers
    • tvbg6b - Battleship, Simon, Mouse Trap, Checkers, Link-a-Like, Roll Over

Test Menu#

A test menu can be accessed by booting the console while pressing Up + A, then pressing Down + B on the black screen that follows. While the 6-in-1 units lack the B button, necessary to access these functions, they are still coded in.

At first, the game will do a checksum test. After it is complete, pressing any button will proceed to an input test.

Pressing A + B after all buttons have been pressed will proceed to a graphic test, in which a series of solid colors are displayed before a grid with them, roughly in the same order (Yellow, which is the second color from the left, top to bottom, is actually the last solid color displayed). These screens can be advanced by pressing A.

After a few seconds on the final grid, the game goes back to the title sequence, though it can still be skipped.
