It's as good as it sounds.

- The title screen was changed, deciding that [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_City_Studios,_Inc._v._Nintendo_Co.,_Ltd. Donkey Kong's original inspiration] should take over the coveted spot of having the game named after him.
- A little animation to the pause screen was added.
- When beating the original revision of the game, the ending just shows a screen with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong (who doesn't appear elsewhere in the game) statically staring at each other in a black void. In the ROM, there are some unused graphics for a conversation that was intended for this ending, transcribed as follows:
WOW!!....... IT'S ALL OVER NOW
AND WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW, DONKEY?
OH......... LET ME THINK.......
OH! YA!
WHAT!? DONKEY
SEE YOU!
SEE YOU AGAIN!!
Super King Kong '99 fixes the ending so said graphics display properly and additionally animates the characters.
