This needs some investigation. |
Subor V3.0 is software developed as an auxiliary cartridge for the Subor Student Computer, which is a Chinese Famicom clone.
Oh, and it uses the sound engine from Toxic Crusaders too, complete with a few soundtracks taken from said game.
Hidden Developer Credits#
In the original release, after entering F-BASIC a copyright screen with music will show up.
If you enter and run CALL 48386, a glitchy screen with the same music will appear.
The F-BASIC program, originally created by Fujitsu, was copied by Fei Suo Computer Studio (a software company in Shenzhen, China), which added boot code to show the second image above. Subor directly copied Fei Suo's program code and changed the latter's copyright message to one of its own, though portions of the original still remained in Subor's ROM. When this was discovered by Fei Suo later in 1994, a lawsuit followed.
Fei Suo's claim ended up being rejected by the Beijing High Court, which ruled that no losses resulted from Subor's actions.
Revisional Differences#
Due to the Fei Suo lawsuit, Subor released a modified version of the ROM.
- All remaining F-BASIC copyright messages were deleted.
- Dr. Mario, which was included in the original version, was replaced with Chinese Chess.
