Sonic Jam 6

Super Mario 2 1998

Same as Sonic Jam 6 gameplay-wise, only you play as Mario instead of Sonic. The title screen in Sonic Jam 6, shown at 320×224, is replaced with a 256×224 screen (which is consistent with the actual game's screen size in the gameplay itself in both versions) in Super Mario 2 1998, replicating the title screen from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros., as well as adding a 2-player option (which exists in Sonic Jam 6 as well, albeit unused).

The transition screen replaced the Sonic icon with the Mario life icon from Super Mario All-Stars. Likewise, the Sonic 3D Blast banner was replaced with the bonus background Mario head. Additionally, the font used for the numbers during the screen were replaced with the same numbers used with the HUD in-game.

The change of the player palette also resulted in some sprites that share the palette changing, looking closer to how they should with Mario's palette.

The game over screen features similar changes, replacing the big Sonic and the "SONIC" nameplate with graphics from Super Mario All-Stars, pulling from that game's Game Over screen.

A unique ending screen was added to Super Mario 2 1998, featuring Peach kissing Mario, with a unique ending theme added in, that plays after rescuing her.
