Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors. |
Sakura Spirit is a visual novel, telling the story of a rising judo star who ends up in another world, stumbling into the conflict of (fox) spirits and humans.
It's now up to him to solve it and find a way back to his own world.
At the time of its release, the game was quite infamous for its suggestive content.
Revisional Differences#
July 20, 2014 Update#
An update was released on July 20, 20142 containing a heavy rewrite of the game's dialogue as well as changes to certain CG's.
This was without a news announcement, with Sekai Project (the publisher at the time) being vague about the changes, only stating that it was a "Grammar patch for the most part" and "GC fixes", encouraging users to "try to spot the differences~"34
The same update was presumably mentioned in a news announcement on September 15, 2014, when the game went on sale for a week, stating "The latest release includes improvements to the story."5 as SteamDB shows that the depot only changed 3 times (July 9 2014, July 10 2014, July 20 2014) with July 20, 2014 being the most recent.6
CGs#
The characters on all updated CGs appear to be slightly moved to the left and have slight outline differences.

A checkered pattern was added to Maeko's hair ribbons, black parts of her top, arm garters and skirt while Miyo's skirt and green part of her uniform received a plaid pattern as well as a white line.
The darker shades on Maeko's hair were changed from yellow to a more orange color.
Both outfit changes fix inconsistencies when compared to the other artwork.

Machiko's outfit contains several differences.
It's more open, lacking the see through fabric on the sides of her top, which was instead secured via straps, as well as featuring roses on her sleeves (replaced by ribbons) and stockings (changed to a curved branch-like pattern) The final design adds a layer to the skirt, changing the color of the bottom layer from black to blue and applies the same layer/color change to the sleeves, removing the pattern on the front ends in the process. Further changes include the removal of straps on the stockings and frills on the top of the sleeves as well as the addition of a gem to the neckwear.
Besides the outfit, a few shading/coloring differences are present, mostly noticeable on the boots/top and the transparency on certain sections was reduced.
Given the amount and details of the changes, it seems likely that this was an earlier version of Machiko's outfit.
While most of the early CG artwork can be seen in the video on the game's Steam page, this one uses the July 20 version, suggesting that it was left in the game by mistake.

The watermark on Miyo's dress was removed and the shading was adjusted in several places, being redone on her back and chest with the mid section getting brighter and the red blush effect being toned down. The glow near the flower on the side of her chest was removed and her eye and eyebrow were also repositioned.

Maeko's hair ribbons and skirt received a checkered pattern, just like in CG1.
