Ryuuko no Ken (TurboGrafx-CD)

A very faithful (if not the best) port of the Neo Geo original, featuring large character sprites, screen stretching (to imitate the zoom effect) and an amazing arranged soundtrack. It's also the second game to be released in Arcade CD-ROM² format, which requires the powerful Arcade Card.

Source Code#

Due to a mastering error, source code and game assets were accidentally included throughout the game's code track. The files can be found by searching said track for LZH archives and other related data. While the source code is mostly complete, some files are corrupted due to hard drive fragmentation of the computer they were pulled from. An archive of what could be salvaged from the code track can be found here:

Level Select#

Play through story mode and attain a high score (minimum 40,010 points). At the high score screen, enter either .SD, .LK or .AS as a name. At the story mode character select, hold II to bring up the level select and and press Up or Down. Note that you only have 10 seconds (the time limit for selecting a character) to select a level, at which point the game will start automatically.

CD Warning (No Arcade Card Detected)#

Watch on YouTube

The game requires the Arcade Card (Duo or Pro, depending on the PC Engine model) to run. If you try to play the game without it (e.g. using a PC Engine Duo without an Arcade Card Duo inserted or using older system cards in an original CD-ROM² system, like the Super System Card 3.0), the game will trigger a brief cutscene showing super deformed versions of Ryo, Robert, Yuri and other characters like Todo and Mr. Big ending with a green screen that says to use an Arcade Card compatible with your system.

Fun Fact: the cutscene's context is basically the game's ending.
