RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (Windows)

This article has a talk page! This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

The sequel to the highly popular RollerCoaster Tycoon, this one features the ability to build scenery vertically and a licensed promotion by Six Flags.

To do:

  • Document prerelease stuff on these video.
  • Unused sprites - some of these are used in OpenRCT2, like sprites for the side-friction cars on steep slopes
  • Special guest names that are not rumors (set the record straight).
  • See talk page.
  • The game's manual makes many statements that are wrong (e.g. claiming that playing music will attract guests to a ride when the truth is that music has no direct effect on guests' intention to ride something). These misinformation could be referencing the game's prototype.

Unused Graphics#

In g1.dat there exists an unused sprite (located at 0x5A9C) for a Snow weather type that doesn't appear in the game.

Impossible Thumbnails#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

The thumbnail for the Steeplechase coaster with Soap Box Derby Racers features scenery with placement that's impossible in the released game. The Watercoaster thumbnail uses a type of path that is not in the final game. The thumbnail for River Rapids is taken in Alton Towers, but has path on a hill with railing but no steps, which is impossible in the final game and the original. The thumbnail for Flying Saucers appears to be taken in the Thunder Rock scenario, but the ride is not usable in that scenario. The thumbnail for the Submarine Ride is taken from Gravity Gardens, a scenario which doesn't allow non-coaster rides to be built.

The thumbnail for the Dinghy Slide, as well as the Dinghy Slide in the background of the thumbnail for the Racing Cars vehicle type for the Car Ride displays a version of Megaworld Park where the Dinghy Slide's supports are built like the original game. Multiple rides have thumbnails which display overgrown grass of the original game's pattern.
