Unused Music

This is a sub-page of Resident Evil Zero.

Resident Evil Zero has many unused music tracks inside of the BGM folder. Some of them are from early revisions of preexisting songs, while others are rearranged tracks from the cancelled Nintendo 64 version. This seems to further fuel the evidence that the GameCube release was much more similar to the Nintendo 64 version at some point during development.

Unused Music#

Track 01#

A rather eerie track that uses high pitched sounds. Where it could have been used for is unknown.

Track 02#

A music track that seemly builds up to something, possibly for a cutscene. With how it sounds, this is likely a rearranged song from the Nintendo 64 version.

Track 03#

A music track with the usage of a piano. Like with track 02, this seems to be a rearranged song from the Nintendo 64 version.

Track 04#

Track 04

End Roll

This track contains the most well-known song from the Nintendo 64 version, the save room theme. It would end up getting repurposed in the final game as a part of the credits theme.

Track 05#

A music track with ominous organ piano music playing. This seems to be originally intended for a cutscene.

Track 06#

A rather peaceful music track. Given how short it is, this was likely used for a cutscene.

Track 07#

Another ominous track, with trumpets being used. Given how it sounds, this is presumably taken from the Nintendo 64 version.

Track 08#

This track uses some wind effects, which seems to be imply that this was intended for outdoor areas.

Track 09#

A pretty uneasy track. Where this could have been used is purely unknown.

Track 10#

A pretty somber track. With it's short duration, this was likely for a cutscene of sorts.

Track 11#

Track 11

Escape(Used in-game)

This is the original theme for the final boss fight against Queen Leech, otherwise known as the escape theme. It can be heard in a prerelease trailer for the game.

Track 13#

A pretty tense track. Where it could have played at is currently unknown.

Track 14#

Another track that's meant to unease the player. Given the usage of trumpets, this is possibly from the Nintendo 64 version.

A track that contains loud bangs at some points. Where it could have possibly played at is unknown.

Track 16#

This track can be heard in the same trailer that contained the original escape theme.

Track 17#

Track 18

1st Zombie(Used in-game)

This is a rearranged track from the Nintendo 64 version, where Rebecca encounters zombies for the first time. This track ended up getting recomposed in the final game.

Track 19#

Another somber, but yet mysterious track. Was likely used for a cutscene.

Track 20#

A track that's filled tons of tension. It's unknown if this was meant to be used for a cutscene, used for an area right before a boss fight, or used for a timed sequence.

Track 21#

A very short track that features heart beats. This was most definitely for a cutscene, possibly for a boss battle.

Track 22#

This tracks has grotesque, wet noises. This was probably used for a cutscene that features leeches or a different monster entirely.

Track 23#

A rather short jingle. Perhaps used for when the players get a game over?

Track 24#

This track was used in the trial edition, where you would be told that the game will be released soon.
