Rascal Racers

A generic shovelware racing game with a rather interesting backstory. Originally released on the short-lived Nuon in 2000, Merlin Racing was a Diddy Kong Racing clone featuring four different vehicles and a story mode.

Three years later, Miracle Designs decided to take said game and release it four times under various names: Rascal Racers, Miracle Space Race, XS Airboat Racing and ATV Racers. All of them are pretty much identical, with the only differences being slightly different track layouts and textures. Sound familiar?

The US version also contains leftovers from ATV Racers and X5 Airboat Racing.

The American version contains one early version and one that credits a different publisher.

Regional Differences#

  • The US version asks you if you want to save when saving for the first time instead of just proceeding to save the game.
  • The European version has a file called DUMMY.WAV, which is just a blank WAV file added to pad the disc. This was removed in the US version.
