ROBOX

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: We need to do more research to see if we can enable these Lua files. And to understand what they are doing.

ROBOX is about the titular robot exploring the depths of an alien planet.

The developer/publisher, now defunct, was based in Spain, and as such the game has quite a bit of Spanish text in it.

Test Text#

Present in the root directory are test1.txt and test2.txt.

test1.txt:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

test2.txt:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Test Font#

Located in the fonts folder is a file named test.brfna which was possibly used for debugging purposes.

Platform Settings#

Located in the script folder is the platformSettings.lua file, which reveals some cool info about how the game was supposed to run on a Windows computer before it was ported to the Wii.

--print("START platformSettings.lua");

TARGET_WIN32=false;

if(TARGET_WIN32) then
    BARRA_DIRECTORIOS="\\"
    IMAGE_EXT=".tga"
else
    BARRA_DIRECTORIOS="/"
    IMAGE_EXT=".tpl"
end

--print("END");

Internal MIDI Filenames#

The game uses MIDI files for the music and a .pcm file for the sound font. The names and extensions for the MIDI files are unusual, seemingly named after the developers or music composers. (Note that if you want to play the music, you'll need to add ".mid" to the end of the file name.)

Test Lua#

Present in the root directory is the file test.lua It appears to set up textures, check file types, and then load tileset.lua which contains the texture list for level 4. If any of the textures fail to load, it falls back to default.tpl which is a plain white box. The script also contains animation code, but it is currently disabled.

textureList={};
