Mentathalon#

This was a cut sidequest/minigame where Razputin races the other interns through the outside map, possibly through the Quarry and/or Questionable Area. Hollis provides you with a map to follow and warns you of dangers along the way. Given the context, it is likely that the Mentathalon was a platforming challenge.

These are also the only lines indicating most of the interns' full names, aside from Adam, who tells you during an optional interaction in-game.

Training#

Psychonauts 2 uses an upgrade system for PSI powers based on intern credit which allows you to upgrade certain powers at will via the menu. These voice lines suggest that there may have once been an alternative PSI power leveling system, based on training with particular characters specialized in certain PSI powers (e.g. Milla for levitation, Sasha for marksmanship, or Lili for pyrokinesis) which was later removed from the game.

Mecha Oleander#

According to these placeholder voice lines, Coach Oleander's Battlebot once went by a different moniker, though whether he was given the funding to build it, or even completed it during an earlier draft of the story, is currently unknown. An early version of the game map(TBA) found in the game's files suggests he may have at least started the project.

Loboto's Labyrinth#

These lines are introducing the enemies known as Doubts, however, the name of Doubts and Regrets switched during development¹. Therefore the lines were re-recorded to reflect this, and now Lili introduces Doubts, with Sasha introducing Regrets.

Compton's Cookoff#

Some unused lines suggest that there were originally additional mechanics in the Compton's Cookoff level.

These lines suggest a more adversarial relationship between the player and the ingredients, as opposed to the morbid enthusiasm for being selected, cooked, and eaten in the final release. There are also food items mentioned that are not included in the game.

Possibly related to the ingredient uprising, these lines imply that it was possible for some of the cooking implements to break, or potentially be broken by rebellious ingredients. There are also additional appliances mentioned which are not included in the game.

These lines suggest the level was originally larger, with separate rooms for the kitchen and the judge's area.

These lines are used for the cut Brain Storm power. It was intended to be taught by Compton Boole, and it was used to randomly change objects around you into other objects.².

Hemispheres#

There are unused lines for a location called "Hemispheres". It was presumably the original concept for a shop area, instead of the Otto-Matics we've got in the final game. Judging from these lines, enhancement pins, dream fluffs and a scrapped item called "dream beans" were all sold there. The shopkeeper was also supposedly not Otto, since he is voiced by Darin De Paul (who is also the voice of Truman).
