Project Borealis is a Half-Life fangame project that seeks to recreate the long-belated Half-Life 2: Episode Three based on former series writer Marc Laidlaw's Epistle 3 (a legally-distinct "fanfic" describing the plot outline for Episode Three). It runs on Unreal Engine 5, modified to resemble the Source Engine in many ways, down to the title screen.

Unused Maps#

endsequencetest#

A map made to test the ending sequence for the demo. It uses a different skybox than the "main" map. There is an orange-colored block on the ground that triggers the "door open and ladder coming down" sequence.

icecavemap#

A map that, presumably, is set in an ice cave. While the map file exists, it cannot be loaded in-game via the developer console, as doing so crashes the game.

Unused Weapons#

SMG (MP7)#

Apart from the firing sound cutting off when letting go of the trigger, the classic SMG from Half-Life 2 is near-finished. However, this weapon goes unused in the techdemo for unknown reasons. It can be used in the endsequencetest map.

AR2 (Pulse Rifle)#

While the Combine Pulse Rifle can't be spawned in-game, it does have some leftovers ranging from code bits to textures.
