Placeholder Song Entries#
There are also numerous graphics for placeholder song entries. Both banner graphics appear to be slightly earlier versions of those of the song Dynamic! Atomic! Space cow boys & girls ~ver.1~. These graphics encompass the IDs 325 to 349.

Early Title Tags#
While pop'n music 9 uses separate title tag graphics to be displayed during gameplay, many songs, new and old alike, still have these graphics in their background files. In general, these are just blurrier than their final counterparts, with the following notable exceptions and additions:
- WHITE BIRDS ' unused title tag has a stray transparent column on the right corner.
- The unused title tag graphics for the songs S.S.L ~Super Special Love~, Wataru seken wa oni bakari opening theme, Moete hero, and Hero ~HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO~ have a transparent background, which is not the case for any of the used ones.
- S.S.L ~Super Special Love~ 's unused title tag has bigger text.
- Taiyou ni hoero no theme 's unused title tag also credits the composer, Katsuo Ohno.
- Wataru seken wa oni bakari opening theme 's unused title tag only lists the song as "Wataru seken wa oni bakari". Similarly, Hero ~HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO~ 's unused title tag lists it as just "Hero".
- Moete hero 's unused title tag has less stretched text.
- The title tag graphics for the songs Tenohira no kakumei, Filament Circus, blue moon sea, and GOODBYE CHOCOLATE KISS are less blurry than their final counterparts.

Characters#
Portraits#
The character Shishamo [8] contains two unused portraits for both of its palettes. The first palette's portrait does not feature its owner, Satou, while the second palette's is simply smaller.

Sprites#
The files MAX_9A\2.GCZ and MAX_9B\2.GCZ, which are sprite sheet graphics for both palettes of the character TSURARA [9], contain a placeholder texture. It can also be found within 2.GCZ and 3.GCZ of the folder TOME_9A, which contains the graphics for the first palette of the character MC.TOME [9].

Unused Charts#
Each of the songs in pop'n music 9 have filled slots for 12 charts, even though normally up to 5 are used, as follows:
ID |
Difficulty |
|---|---|
3 |
NORMAL |
4 |
HYPER |
5 |
5BUTTON |
6 |
EX |
7 |
Battle N/H |
8-14 |
Unused |
This section documents oddities in this data, which are mainly observed in difficulty slots that are not used by a song.
0000~0006 - System BGM#
The system background music slots contain chart data, too! They're all marginally different versions of I REALLY WANT TO HURT YOU 's 5-BUTTON chart, with the only difference being in the background music parameter in the beginning of the song, which is set to 0D instead of 09.
