When comparing to the PlayStation version, there are some differences. The copyright has 1996 in all regions despite Namco Museum Vol. 3 releasing in 1997 in the international regions, it added LTD. to the copyright, and the color palette is different for the Molecules.

Text/Logos#

  • The text for the step number is shifted together, and the color palette for the text is red instead of orange.
  • The arcade version has Japanese text, whereas in the PlayStation version, the text is in English. The Japanese version of Namco Museum Vol. 3 restores the Japanese text, albeit with a bit of light on the outside of the text.
  • When you start the game, the credit count will be replaced by Namco's logo. This is absent in the Arcade mode and in the arcade version.

General Differences#

  • The game won't crash once you reach Step 3 of World 9.
  • In the arcade version, the credits count up if you put a coin in the machine. However the coin button is mapped to Select (or Start if you have 0 credits).
  • There's a round select option hidden if you flip the 4th switch on the second bank of the DIP switch. This is present in the arcade version, although the way to access it is different.
  • When you get a game over in 2-player mode, it doesn't show PLAYER 1/2 END. Instead, it shows the regular GAME OVER text.
  • When you get a game over in the arcade version, the 1/2UP text will immediately stop flashing. In the PlayStation version, it only stops flashing once the game goes back to the title screen, the start screen, or even the name entry screen.
