Operation Wolf isn't about playing as a wolf, but it's a cool name.
Regional Differences#
In all versions of the game, there is a dipswitch on the PCB board which allows you to choose which language the instructions appear in. By default the language is set to English/International, even in the Japanese set, oddly.

If the language is set to Japanese, the player can choose the order to play the missions in, although the Concentration Camp and Airport have prerequisite levels. While if the language is set to English, the player is forced to play all the levels in a preset sequence.
Also with the Japanese language, an extra line from the announcer to "Make your selection with the gun." is heard. No wonder why this was cut in the English language.
Other Endings#
Contrary to the popular belief that these endings are based on how many hostages the player saves, these are actually obtained by how many levels the player has played to complete the game.
Note that these endings are only available if the game is set to Japanese, as when the game is set to English, the player has to play all the levels, thus making the first two endings impossible to achieve.

Alternate Ending 2 |
|
This ending is obtained by clearing Jungle, Concentration Camp and Airport, along with one or two more levels. |
"Well done! I hope you perform your next mission... just as well!" |
Best Ending |
This ending is obtained by beating all of the levels. Note that this is the only ending that the player can get in the English version. |
"Splendid! You are a real pro!" |
