Nubby's Number Factory

To do:

  • More information, more images.
  • Unused items
  • Unused sprites & objects (Plastic Key, Cheap Key Capsule, Finger Puppets, Face Rock, etc.)
  • Create Proto page for the demo-exclusive content (Demo perks, UI differences, gameplay changes, Old items, etc.)
  • Unused special pegs (Brick and Mutant have some code associated with them; some others may too)
please suggest an unused sprite with a clock or something

This game is still under active development.
Be aware that any unused content you find may become used or removed in the future. Please only add things to the article that are unlikely to ever be used, or went unused for some time. If they do get used, please remove them from the page and specify in the edit summary!

Nubby's Number Factory is a plinko-style rougelike in which you must launch Nubby and pop pegs, otherwise the sun will explode.

Unused Items#

Professor Palmy#

NNF-ProfessorPalmy.gif NNF-ProfessorPalmyPlus.gif

An unused common item with the ID of 57 and the default common item price of 5 coins. Its description reads "Every 2 seconds → * Gain + 0.50 HAZARD. * HAZARD: When Nubby dies, multiply total points by total hazard." While the hazard mechanic is implemented and left unused in the game, this item does not make use of it. Instead, it attempts to summon something using an unused summon ID of 13, doing nothing. The upgraded item does the same thing, but with the ID 14, which is also unused. When playing as Mutant Tony, who grants all items a second alternate trigger condition, Professor Palmy's alternate trigger is "First peg popped."

The Grabber#

NNF-TheGrabber.gif NNF-TheGrabberPlus.gif

The Grabber was an unused common item with ID 35 and a price of 8 coins. Its description was "First peg popped → Empty Description", but its trigger was actually "Pass round goal." It had no effect when triggered. There is a unique sprite for the upgraded version, but it similarly did nothing.

In update 1.3, the item was removed and its slot was overwritten by the new item Happy Seal, although its sprites remain.

Test items#

There are three unused test items that share several similarities:

  • They are all rare, non-corrupted items.
  • Each one's sprite is a crudely-drawn red number in a white box.
  • They all have triggers named "Test[test number]." and alternate triggers named "Test[test number]Mutated". There is no event that will cause these conditions to trigger, but the items can still be triggered by force-triggering them. Prior to 1.3, their primary trigger was "First peg popped" despite their description displaying the unused trigger.
  • They all have descriptions reading simply "* Test[test number]".
  • When triggered, a text box will appear reading "Test[test number] Fired". If upgraded, it instead says "Upgraded Test[test number] Fired".
  • They all have the default buy and sell price for a rare item: 10 coins to buy, and sold for 5 coins (or 10 when upgraded).
  • The items' IDs are consecutive: 25, 26, and 27 for the base versions, and 93, 94, and 95 for the upgraded versions.

Test Item 1#

Unlike the other two test items, Test Item 1 had a unique effect. When triggered, it would grant points equal to 2,000 times the current level goal, instantly clearing the level. If it was upgraded, it would have the usual effect, displaying a text box reading "Upgraded Test1 Fired".

In update 1.3.1, the item was removed and its slot was overwritten by the new item Rabid Monstrosity.

Test Item 2#

As of update 1.3.2, Test Item 2 is the only one of the three test items remaining in the game's code.

Test Item 3#

In update 1.3, Test Item 3 was removed and its slot was overwritten by the new item Toy Fish.

Unused Perks#

The Ping Pong Perk#

The Ping Pong Perk is a rare perk with ID 11. Its description reads "Nubby hits wall 5 times → Force-triggers the item in slot #5." While the trigger is properly implemented, the effect is not. Instead, the item simply generates a random number between 0 and 5 and checks if that number is 1, but does nothing either way.

The Seedy Perk#

The Seedy Perk was a rare perk with ID 26. It has no trigger condition, no effect, and no sprite. While the lack of sprite makes it impossible to check its description, if mods are used to give the item a sprite, its description reads "Error: null → Null".

In update 1.34, the perk was removed and its slot and name were overwritten by the new Archaic Perk, although its sprites and code remain.

Console#

By editing the game's files to enable the "AllowConsole" flag, a developer console can be opened by holding ⇧ Shift and pressing ↵ Return. From this console, several debugging commands can be used by typing "!" followed by the command. Commands do not take arguments in their calls. Instead, the user must submit the command, which will then prompt them to submit each argument one at a time. Many of these commands also have shortened forms.

Command

Alias

Effect

Notes

help

h

Displays a list of every command.

itemidlist

iid

Displays a list of each item that can be found in Nubby-Mart or the black market and their IDs.

Due to how item data is loaded, this command does not function outside of gameplay.

giveitem

i

Puts the item with the given ID into the given slot number, even if that slot is locked.

While this command can be used to obtain unused items, it cannot be used to place food items into the inventory, despite them using the same list of IDs. While the console will treat the IDs of empty placeholder slots as valid IDs, attempting to spawn one will crash the game.

givemoney

m

Adds the given number of coins.

Negative numbers can be used to subtract money, even going into negative values.

quickmoney

qm

Adds 999 coins.

setmoney

Sets the coin count to the given number.

Like givemoney, this can be used to set the coin count to negative values.

bossidlist

bevid

Lists the first 5 boss events and their IDs.

The final boss events, as well as the 6th and 7th boss events, "Holiday Cheer!" and "I've Been Robbed!", are not listed.

triggerbossevent

tb

Triggers the boss event or final boss event with the given ID. If -1 is given as the ID, it will trigger a boss event that could naturally spawn at the current point in the game.

If a final boss event is triggered, it will repeat every round until round 80 is cleared. ID 11 will crash the game, while IDs beyond that will do nothing.

specialeventidlist

spevid

Lists the first 8 special events and their IDs.

Like bossidlist, this command doesn't list every event, missing event 9, "Booger Party!".

triggerspecialevent

ts

Triggers the special event with the given ID. If -1 is given as the ID, it will trigger a random special event that could naturally spawn at the current point in the game.

Using IDs 10, 11, or 12 will display a special event popup with no name and the peg info for event 2, "Gold Rush!". When the event begins, no pegs will be changed. IDs beyond this will do nothing.

perkidlist

pid

Displays a list of each perk and their ids.

Unlike itemidlist, this list contains unobtainable perks.

giveperk

p

Gives the perk with the given ID.

removeallperk

Removes all perks the player has.

giveshop

s

Opens Nubby-Mart if the player is not already there.

giveloot

l

Opens the "You got loot!" screen where the player earns perks if they are not already there.

setround

Sets the current round to the given round, which must be between 0 and 80.

If the current round is 81 or later, the command will do nothing. If the round is set to 80, the game will crash upon clearing round 81, but will become playable again if the game is reopened and the save is loaded.

popall

If Nubby has been launched, pops all pegs on the board once.

killgame

kill

Closes the game.

gototitle

Instantly sends the player to the title screen.

godmode

Toggles godmode. While in godmode, launching Nubby does not cost lives, coins are not removed from the player for purchases (although they still can't buy things that cost more than the current coin count), and the player can reroll shops and jumble pegs an unlimited number of times.

debug

d

Toggles debug mode. While in debug mode, text appears in the top-left corner displaying the current framerate, the current real fps, and the number of objects currently active.

deletesavefile

Deletes the save file.

restartroom

rr

Restarts the current run.

Unlike other gameplay-related commands, the console will not stop this command from being run in the main menu, but doing so will crash the game.

nubby

n

Spawns a given number of Nubbies between 1 and 16.

If this command is run when Nubby has not been launched, the spawned Nubbies will fall and bounce as normal, but pegs will not pop and items will not trigger. The player can jumble pegs, but cannot launch Nubby until all the Nubbies despawn.

nubbysize

Sets Nubby's default size to a given number between 0.1 and 10.

This will not affect any Nubbies currently in play, only ones spawned after the command. If Nubby's size is too large, launching him can cause him to become stuck in the ceiling of the board.

gravity

Sets the game's gravity to a given number between 0.1 and 20.

The command notes that the default gravity is 1.75.

doublepeg

dub

Doubles the peg closest to the cursor.

Pegs can be doubled before Nubby is launched, but no matter when the command is used, the effect will be reverted after the turn ends. This uses the same doubling function as other doubling effects in the game, so it will interact with effects that trigger when a peg is doubled.

halvepeg

halve

Halves the peg closest to the cursor.

Pegs can be halved before Nubby is launched, but no matter when the command is used, the effect will be reverted after the turn ends. This uses the same halving function as other doubling effects in the game, so it will interact with effects that trigger when a peg is halved.

playgame

go

Instantly starts a new run with a random seed and Tony as the supervisor.

passgoal

pg

Launches Nubby and adds points equal to the round goal.

If this command is used after launching Nubby, a new Nubby will be spawned and launched.

passgoalinsta

pgi

Launches Nubby and adds points equal to the round goal, but then instantly destroys Nubby, ending the round instantly (or after items have finished resolving, if applicable).

This will not destroy any Nubbies that were launched before running the command.

upgradeitem

up

Upgrades the item in the given slot.

If an upgraded item is upgraded, it will revert to its un-upgraded form. If there is no item in the slot, the game crashes.

giveblackmarket

gb

Opens the black market screen.

giveclawmachine

claw

Opens the claw machine screen.

godbuild

Places a Pregnancy Test+ in slot 1, a Squid+ in slots 2 and 3, a 3D-Glasses+ in slots 4 and 7, a Laser Pointer+ in slots 5 and 6, and gives 10 Enlightened Perks, 10 Eggy Perks, 10 Kebab Perks, and 10 Waffle Perks.

In the code, the items are given in an unusual way that causes several strange side-effects. Previous items will remain in the slots, unable to trigger but still able to be moved and sold. The newly-spawned items will not show their descriptions, and the newly-obtained perks will not stack with each other and other perks will appear over them instead in the back of the line.

refreshgrid

Resets all existing pegs to the numbers they had when the round began. Fully popped pegs will not reappear.

autosave

Creates a new autosave.

killautosave

Deletes the existing autosave.

If this command is run on the main menu, the button to delete the saved run will instantly disappear, but the "Load Game" button will still appear until the main screen is reloaded by opening the credits or restarting the game. Pressing the "Load Game" button while it is in this state will cause the game to sotflock.

Unused Graphics#

Capsules#

NNF-3DMysteryCapsule.gif NNF-3DMysteryCapsulePlus.gif NNF-3DSpecialCapsule.gif NNF-3DSpecialCapsulePlus.gif

Four sprites for different colored capsules. There are two "Mystery Capsules", both with a question mark inside, and two "Special Capsules", both with a :3 emoticon inside. Although the objects found in the Grab-O-Tron are also internally referred to as "capsules", these unused sprites use the naming scheme of items, and the recolored versions similarly use the naming scheme of upgraded items.

Perk Graphics#

NNF-SupernovaPerk.gif NNF-EmbryoticPerk.gif NNF-LadderPerk.gif

Three unused perk sprites named "Supernova", "Embryotic", and "Ladder", respectively.
