Unused Graphics#

Unused Monster Icons#

Icons for the monsters Seltas, Tetsucabra, Rhenoplos, Giaprey, Giadrome, Shogun Ceanataur, Plesioth, Green Plesioth, Furious Rajang and Duramboros, which don't appear in Stories. However, Plesioth and Green Plesioth materials can be obtained by fishing, and Duramboros materials can be obtained as a post-game reward, allowing the player to craft their weapons and armor sets.

These three, as well as Seltas and Tetsucabra, would be included in Monster Hunter Stories 2

Icons for Versa Pietru and Makili Pietru with the purple filter used for Blight infected monsters. Versa Pietru does not get infected at any point in his battle and Makili Pietru uses the unfiltered sprite, so these go unused.

Unused Menu Graphics#

The first two, labelled 環境 不安定 Unstable Environment and 生態 未確定 Ecology Unverified, are quest icons from Monster Hunter 4 used to warn the player about Invader or Frenzied monsters. Possibly brought over with other reused UI assets, as there's no other reference to the Frenzy Virus. The others read 凶気 Blight and 改造 Modified, and are placeholder status icons for Blighted and EX monsters.

Unused Monster genes#

Plesioth, Green Plesioth, and Duramboros don't appear as enemy encounters or Monsties, but they do have exclusive genes which go unused.

Plesioth Gene
No-type/Water
Attack Up +1
Water Resistance Up +2
Green Plesioth Gene
No-type/Water
Attack Up +3
Water Attack Up +3
Duramboros Gene
Power/Water
Defense Up -3
Water Attack Up +3

Unused Monsties#

These Monsties normally go unused and can only be obtained through save editing.

Black Ratha#

Monster ID 49.

Black Ratha is normally a boss that appears before the final battle.

While listed here as a Monstie in the game's files, it was likely never intended to be used by the player as its stats are low and do not increase after leveling up.

Baby Ratha#

Monster ID 47.

Ratha is technically the first Monstie you obtain, but due to events in the game's story you aren't normally able to ride or use it in battle until later in the story.

However, it's possible Ratha was originally intended to be recruited earlier. By using a cheat device or hacking, Baby Ratha can be added to your party. It can be ridden and has battle stats.

Frenzied Ratha#

Monster ID 44.

A copy of Black Ratha.

One-eyed White Ratha#

Monster ID 4A.

Uses Ratha's model.

Unused Monster IDs#

These IDs have no Monstie data associated with them and will cause the game to crash if used.

Monster IDs: 4D, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 5A, 5B, 5C.
