Mamorukun Curse! (Arcade)

This page contains no introduction.
What makes this game notable or what is it about? Are you a bad enough dude to save this article?

Hidden Sound Test#

The game has a sound test, but it is not accessible through its test menu like expected. The cheat code 00080824 00000009 should force the game to boot into it.

Hidden Developer Credit#

Within the XOR key that is used for archive decryption is a credit to Osamu Chadani.

Invisible Developer Notes#

Not visible with some texture viewers due to their pixels being transparent are developer notes within the textures containing Fululu's text mentioning that cutout sizes have been changed.

Leftover Enemy Wireframe Texture#

Named ENE_KARASU_TEST.PVR is a leftover wireframe texture of an enemy.

Leftover Mamoru Texture#

Named BUSTUP_A_CUT2.PVR is a texture of Mamoru, but with a slightly different facial appearance to final. It is inside a seemingly unused SC_MENU.BIN, suggesting this was to be used in a menu at some point.

Version Overlay#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: There appears to be another input sequence in a menu (stage select?) which supposedly plays a sound, then updates the backup RAM used for scores. It is Up, Up, A, B, Down, Down, B, A, Left, Right. An A button press is a bit strange as that would quit out of the stage select that this is supposedly used on. Try and trigger this.

Whilst not in-game, pressing Up, Up, Down, Up, Up, Down (with less than a second between each press) should show the game's version in the bottom left for 5 seconds.

The duration being 5 seconds could be unintentional as the timer is decremented in two different places, effectively halving the time, as the timer was originally set for 600 frames (10 seconds).

Debug Options#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Could the code for some of these options still be present? Investigating other games with the same engine could help. Interestingly, this includes Radirgy Noa, despite Gulti not being credited.

The game tries to read Noroi.ini for numerous different options. Seemingly, many of these do not work. They are as follows:

  • beginning_stage
  • beginning_frame
  • beginning_pos_x
  • beginning_pos_y
  • sc_beginning
  • no_death
  • disp_hit
  • disp_level
  • disp_debug
  • disp_meter
  • disp_camera
  • time_stop
  • shot_level
  • select_player
  • rotate_player
  • network_rom
  • game_timer
  • stage_level
