Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (Windows)

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

In parallel with the home console and Game Boy Advance releases, a separate Windows version was developed by KnowWonder using the very same Unreal Engine 2.0 build as the Windows version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Easter Eggs#

Embedded within Maps\MarvelousMarriage_map.unr is a cartoon drawing of a turtle jubilantly carrying a trophy with the message "CONGRATULATIONS! A WINNER IS YOU!". The placeholder texture was applied around the sides of the cutscene meshes used for the epilogue.

Unused Graphics#

Harry Potter Remnants#

An archive of particle textures from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban named HP_FX.utx was left in the game's texture archives.

Unused Models#

An unused model of Violet Baudelaire aptly named Violet can be found in Animations\SnicketKids_16.ukx and Animations\SnicketKids_32.ukx. This was presumably made as a placeholder while the film was early in development, as this model is based on Violet's original book rendition as opposed to the more gothic-inspired costume worn by Emily Browning's character in the film.

Debug Mode#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: There are some game-specific console commands besides the generic Unreal Engine ones. Sifting through the game's UnrealScript files might be of help.

A debug mode for development purposes can be enabled by editing User.ini and binding the following line to an unused key bind, e.g.:

H=ToggleDebugMode

Once the debug code is activated, press H whilst in-game to toggle debug mode, then press F2 to bring up the developer menu. Most if not all development features in Azkaban will apply to this game.
