Unused Audio#

To do:
While there's only one unused music track, there are quite a few unused sound effects! In order of sequence ID:
Audio |
ID |
Notes |
|---|---|---|
0x16 |
Crashing white noise; Meant as ambient wave crashing noise for the Island theme? |
0x18 |
Two potential transformation jingles; 0x21 is a shortened version of 0x18. |
0x1E |
Geyser sound of indefinite length |
0x36 |
Iron Knight's climbing noise with miscellaneous crashing high pitch tone + white noise accompaniment |
0x37 |
Laser noise that pitches down super low until the sound ends |
0x38 |
Laser noise with no pitch bending at all |
0x39 |
Odd shimmer(?) |
0x49 |
Clapping/rocks crumbling(?) |
0x4A |
Slowed and pitched down kid flip sound |
0x4D |
Drum kick(?) |
0x4F |
The only unused music track in the game; An edit of the swamp theme, featuring a harsh, (and quite frankly, annoying,) synth that has parts in the mid and end section of the track. The ending double note scale is also different, with the backing harmonic guitar's notes being staccato vs. the final's legato notes. |
0x5A |
Pitched down Red Stealth sword strike |
0x5B |
Pitched down drip(?) |
0x62 |
A sample of Kid saying "Diamond!" Its potential use case is unknown. |
0x66 |
Simple sound effect; similar to the diamond collect sound (Potential earlier version?) |
The Crypt#
To do:
There exists 23 duplicates of the level The Crypt, a level near the end of the game, in the game's data. All duplicates lack platform data and bonus data (Path and Speed bonuses.) Only 3 of these duplicates have a level reference ID, those being 0x38, 0x47, and 0x69, with the full, playable version having an index of 0x41.
Unused Teleporter#
At the end of the Crab Cove level is a teleporter, underneath the steel bridge, which can be seen by holding Down to pan the camera downward. While there is no way to access it without hacks, the teleporter is set to take you back to the beginning of the level.
Regional Differences#

US/Europe |
Japan |

The Japanese version moved the graphics on the title screen around a bit. The background gradient was also lightened, perhaps to make the graphics stand out better.
