The NES Jackpot is a loose home conversion of New Lucky 8 Lines, a seminal game in the "8-liner" genre of 3x3-reeled video slots which would spawn the Cherry Bonus and Cherry Master series — more specifically of a version of it (MAME 0.274+: ns8linewb) including the "Witch Bonus" feature, which would be popularized by a line of "Witch" video poker games by Video Klein.

In these games, the player first bets individual credits (each enabling one payline: 3 horizontal, 2 diagonal, 3 vertical in this order, then increasing the value of the bet in the same order) or repeats the previous bet, then the (rigged) reels are spun. If a winning combination is lined up, a roulette wheel is rolled for a chance of doubling the score, which the player may then wager in a (rigged) double-or-nothing game; every consecutive win also adds one "dice" of Witch Bonus, a random number drawing — originally in the shape of a witch — providing a chance of further multipliers. Did we mention the Witch Bonus is rigged?

Being a home version not capable of payouts and where the witches are replaced with cats, this game is strictly FOR AMOUSEMENT ONLY.

Perhaps more importantly, a conversion of this game from a video slot to video Xiao Mali resulted in the relatively better-known cult game Dian Shi Ma Li.

At 3B0 in CHR-ROM is a lower-resolution version of the "F" Fortran logo, with no sign yet of the eponymous character who would return to present 7 Grand Dad.
