Irritating Stick is a game where you maneuver a stick through a track, reach the goal and not get shocked by touching the edges. It sounds strange, but it's actually based on a Japanese game show.
Regional Differences#
The original Japanese version had multiple visual and audio elements that were cut in the North American release. Many of these elements are based on the game show, but since there's no such thing in America, much of it was toned down or removed.
General Changes#
- The Japanese version opens with an intro that gets players hyped up for the game. This intro is cut in the North American version and instead just starts with the title screen. However, a rolling demo is added to the North American version, as opposed to the Japanese version repeating the intro and title sequences.
- The Game Over sequence loses the scrolling credits from the Japanese version, which was to simulate the end credits of the game show.
Graphic Changes#
- The title screen was changed in the North American version.

Audio Changes#
- The announcer voice was, naturally, re-recorded in English, but much of the Japanese version's dialogue that specific to the game show was removed.
- Catcalling from the announcer that played during gameplay was toned down in the North American version.
