Unused Audio

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Fully scour all of the audio banks and correct any mistakes.

  • Check for unused freeroam dialogue.

San Andreas is a huge game, even today so it's no wonder that there are many sound files that went unused in the base game.

Ambience#

Unused Diner Muzak

This muzak theme is heard inside World of Coq's interior. But since that interior is used only on dates, it is normally impossible to hear it.

Shops#

Unused Barber Scissors

These exist within the GENRL sound archive (Bank 60 & 61), but are unused. Presumably to be used when Carl gets a haircut, but only the electric razor is heard in the final version.

Cars#

Unused Engine Sounds

These are found within GENRL and are not used within the final game at all. They do not have a defined vehicle attached to them.

Skateboard Sounds

Sounds that would've been used by the cut skateboard. Found in Bank 115.

Police Dispatch#

Digging into the dispatch radio voice lines can show areas and vehicles that were cut from the final game.

Tram

It was either intended to ride or drive the Tram in San Fierro, as the police radio has a section line pertaining to CJ being in one. Found in Bank 006, SCRIPT archive. Included below is a mockup sound file of what it could sound like in-game.

Respond to a 10-21 in central Doherty. Suspect last seen in a Tram.

Los Sepulcros

Only referenced in the mission of the same name, it seems like Los Sepulcros was intended to be part of the map. Instead, it is called 'North Vinewood' in the final game. Found in Bank 001, SCRIPT archive. Included below is a mockup sound file of what it could sound like in-game.

Vice City Leftovers#

Pickup sounds leftover from Vice City are left in the SCRIPT archive for some reason, most likely being placeholders early on, in bank 145.
