High-Resolution Mode#

The North American and Japanese versions contain a secret high-resolution mode which increases the framebuffer size from 512×448 to 640×448. According to Tim Moss, the developer who revealed it shortly after the game came out, this mode was hacked in at the very last minute and did not go through full QA testing. Despite this, the game is perfectly playable in this mode with little to no loss in performance. It also retains support for Progressive Scan and 16:9 widescreen from the standard resolution mode.
To activate it, hold L1 + L2 + L3 + Square + Circle immediately as the game begins loading, before the copyright text appears. If done correctly, the copyright text will be a bright shade of magenta instead of the normal white.

- Gore and blood were reduced, as was typical for violent games released in Japan.
- Instances of nudity (such as the topless women in the bathhouse sex mini-game) were covered up.
