Summary

Gemini
"Prepare for interstellar hop."

GeminiFortniteBattleRoyale.png GeminiRedFortniteBattleRoyale.png

In the v8.40 update, an Outfit named "Gemini" was added into the game files which had two edit styles; one with blue coloration (default), and another with red coloration. The Outfit was removed later in the v9.20 update, it's still unknown why, but is presumed to of been to avoid controversy with the "Raeve Mave" skin from Paladins.

Various aspects from the Gemini Outfit were later reused for the "Astro Assassin" Outfit, which was added into the files in the v9.30 update. Similar to the original outfit, the Astro Assassin outfit had two edit styles which featured the same coloration. When the outfit was added into the Item Shop on September 8th, 2019, the edit style was displayed in the preview image, but was not able to be equipped. The red style was eventually removed completely along with the release of Chapter 1: Season X (v10.00).

K-Pop

In the v5.40 update, an untitled Outfit with the filename "K-Pop" was added to the game and was removed in the v6.20 update. Aspects of its design were later repurposed for the iKONIK promotional skin.

The design elements of the K-Pop skin were seen in the Batnap Backbling and Stuffie Smasher Harvesting Tool, which were added to the files in the v14.60 update. The items were later released in the Item Shop as part of the Dream Team bundle.

Sideline Commander
"TBA"

FN-SidelineCommander-Render.png

This cosmetic was likely scrapped for being too close of a design to the "Striped Soldier" outfit.

Spiral Specialist
"TBA"

FN-SpiralSpecialist-Render.png

This cosmetic was likely scrapped for being too close of a design to the "Whistle Warrior" outfit.

Harmony Lee

FN-HarmonyLeeS1-Render.png FN-HarmonyLeeS2-Render.png FN-HarmonyLeeLegoClothes.png

Harmony Lee is a skin designed by fan artist NotFury, she was scrapped and subsequently removed from the files after it came to light that Fury was a predator, and had a crush on a 13 year old while they were 17-18.

Interestingly enough, after Lego Fortnite released, textures and models were found for a LEGO version of the skin, despite the normal skin still being removed.

This skin is well-known in the Fortnite community for "being the straw that broke the camel's back", as since the info came out about Fury, there has not been a single community-created cosmetic in Fortnite.

Ghoul
"Get a Grip."

Tyler Rake

Added sometime during Chapter 5, Season 2, this model was found inside of Dude's Fortnite Skin, is a headless model of Tyler Rake, from the movie Extraction, released in 2020.

It is unknown why this skin was never added, or finished. It is possible they couldn't get the rights to Chris Hemsworth, as every character that Hemsworth portrays is never modelled off of his likeness when inside Fortnite.

After a few months, the skin was removed. Randomly in July 2025, it was re-added to the files.

John McClane

FN-DieHardConceptArt.png

During the Epic vs Apple lawsuit, Epic had submitted their financial reports for review, which included a bunch of plans for collaborations, in which one slide briefly mentioned John's potential for a collab.

Later on, the infamous Disney leak happened, which also included materials for collabs of all their properties. Since Disney owns Die Hard, this was found amongst those files too.

John's skin would of had 3 styles, a Fire Axe Pickaxe, and a gun taped to his back as a backbling. To this day, the collab still has not released.

Rebel Leia Organa

Not much is known about this skin. It was intended to be used for Star Wars Day 2024 and was presumably Leia in her Hoth clothes from The Empire Strikes Back. But it was the only skin of the bunch to never be added to the game files, sitting forever as a codename.

Dwight Fairfield, Feng Min, The Trapper, and The Huntress

Back in 2022, rumors had started circulating that a collaboration with Dead by Daylight (who on it's own, has its own smorgasbord of unused content which will be detailed here) was going to be released, and not much was heard about it for 3 years.

On October 9th, 2025, a Reddit user posted concept art of these two skins. It is said that Epic had declined the offer, leaving these forever concepts.

Various Save the World Heroes

In v1.0, there were many test assets leftover using various Save the World Heroes as placeholder skins.

NPCs

All NPCs have locker files. This technically means they can be used in-game if on a private server... but they were never intended to be used in this way.

Unknown Target Dummy

Watch on YouTube

Added on (TBA), this skin had only its model and textures leftover. Its model was reused in Chapter 2, Season 4 for the Henchmen at Stark Industries.

EscapedPuppet Set

This set is one of the most elusive of the unused sets. There are some ideas on what these skins could be, most commonly agreed to be the Mascots seen in the Season 9 Mega Mall, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Unknown Samurai Skin

Upon the launch of Khaby Lame's collab, his loading screen had a mysterious samurai-esque skin in it. This was later patched to remove it.

Chomp Sr. Alt Style

In Loki's Crew Pack trailer, Chomp Sr. can be seen with a pattern on his shark outfit. It's unknown if this is an earlier rendition of the skin that just slipped through, or if this was a planned style that got canned.

Summary

Cryptography

FNBR-UnreleasedCryptographyEmote.png

A Developer ID leak in 17.40 also confirmed this Emote was ready for release, as it had a Item Shop Asset ready (DAv2_EID_Cryptography)

This emote was first added in Chapter 2, Season 7, and the audio was seemingly added as a test for the Rift Tour event, the Audio is of the also unreleased song, AM to PM, by DaBaby, ft. Migos, it is possible this emote was permanently canned (despite a DevID leak in 17.40 confirming it was ready for release) due to DaBaby's homophobic rant at Rolling Loud.

CycloneJumps (Travis Scott)

Travis Scott was originally planned to have 3 emotes, this emote depicts the player getting on their knees and pumping their fists in the air, it's unknown why this was scrapped.

Buffet

It is unknown what this emote would be much more than the following:

It was for Ariana Grande
It would of had no cap on players who could use it (like "Shout!")

and that is about it, several videos claim to have the animation, but no animation was never added.

Tunak Tun Tun - "Da da da."

FN-TunakTungTungRender.mp4

The "Tunak Tunak Tun" Icon Series Emote was added to the files in the v19.01 update, but was removed in the v20.10 update. The Emote was based off of a popular dance performed by Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in the official 1998 music video, which became an internet meme around the same time.

The release of the Emote was likely halted due to the game developers being unaware of the past controversy surrounding Daler Mehndi, who was sentenced to two years of imprisonment after being convicted in a human trafficking case in 2003.

Squeezie Does It - "Breathe in... Breathe out..."

FN-SqueezieDoesIt.mp4

This emote was first added in 2023, and has been teased numerous times, it's unknown why this hasn't released.

Storm Salutation

Watch on YouTube

Storm Salutation was an Emote added in v3.00 update, with the animation for it being removed in a later update. The emote is a direct reference to Dark Souls, and a similar Emote referencing Dark Souls, "Praise The Tomato", was added in Season 5.

Interestingly, a character performing the Emote can be seen near the end of the Chapter 2: Season 6 cinematic trailer.

This was presumably meant to be a founders reward, before being reworked into Praise the Tomato.

Big Time - "They're mesmerized"

FN-BigTimeEmoteRender.mp4

Big Time is an emote that uses "Hypnotize" by The Notorious B.I.G. and was possibly canned because the Jam Track was also canned.

Interestingly, there was meant to be a pimp cane with this emote that has not been found to this day, and as such, the emote looks unfinished.

Unhibited - "Tell your story."

FN-UnhibitedEmoteRender.mp4

Unhibited is an emote that uses "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield, and was meant to also be released during OG: REMIX, this was found in a leaked Dev Build of Absolute Doom, and is unfinished with no facial features.

Lil' Octane Flames

Lil' Octane Flames is an emote that is almost identical to the Lil' Octane Emote, with the only difference being the Octane itself, which is designed with the Flames decal and is orange.

Interestingly, a character performing the Emote can be seen near the end of the Chapter 2: Season 6 cinematic trailer.

Squeak Steps - "These kicks are squeaky clean."

FN-SqueakSteps.mp4

Squeak Steps was first added in Mini-Season 1, and was presumably meant to be released with a pair of kicks, it has no music, and only uses sneaker sounds in-game.

Gunspinner Teacup

FNBR-UnusedGunslingerEmote.mp4

This Emote was added into the files with the release of Chapter 2: Season 1 (v11.00) update named "Gunspinner Teacup". This Emote was removed in the v12.61 update, but was later remade into the "Syrup Slinger" Built-In Emote, which was included as the tier 32 reward in the Chapter 2: Season 5 Battle Pass.

All we know is that this relates to the "The First Shadows" Set from Fortnite Crew. It also has a Instrumental Version

Shouts#

A new cosmetic type called "Shouts" was added in Chapter 2: Season 2. These would have been activated similar to Emotes, and instead play a short audio byte.

]] A few cosmetic types have corresponding slots in the Locker, but remain unused. These include:

  • Hat
    • Self explanatory.
  • Taunt
    • Potentially a slot where Emotes can be set, which would automatically play upon eliminating another player.
  • Victory Pose
    • Likely a slot where Emotes can be set, which would automatically play upon a Victory Royale.
  • Cart Bling
    • This would of been system-wide ornaments for vehicles, an example being the Durr Burger and Tomato Head charms on the ATKs.
  • Calling Card
    • Likely similar to how they work in Call of Duty, where your equipped Calling Card would be displayed on the enemy's screen after you eliminated them.
  • Map Marker
    • Likely would of replaced the Diamond Icon the player has on the Mini-Map.
  • Battle Bus
    • Would allow the user to customize the appearance of the Battle Bus / the music it plays, throughout the years has had a few test items added, mainly different colors of the default Bus.
