The Battle Book was an early version of what we now know as the Battle Pass. Planned to release in Chapter 1: Season 1, it had 100 tiers (as opposed to the 70 tiers found in the Chapter 1: Season 2 Battle Pass), and featured a UI very similar to the one found in the Chapter 1: Season 2 Battle Pass. The placeholder items only go up to tier 69, and remain the same on every version that contains the Battle Book's UI.
The placeholder items are as follows:
- 2960 V-Bucks
- The Prismatic Glider
Ice (Rework)#
Added into the files around version 27.00, Ice is a scrapped element rework that was likely planned for Chapter 5, though at the time of inclusion, hadn't made it very far in development.
Wall Running (early)#
Added to the files around beginning of Chapter 4, this form of wall running has little function besides sliding the player across the wall. The GA file has to be modded in order for it to be able to work. When double tapping the jump button near a wall, the player slides across the wall. Wall running would later be added properly in Chapter 6, with the used version featuring vertical movement rather than horizontal.
Early Messaging System#
There exists a very early version of a system which likely would have showed different Fortnite-related news topics sent out to players. It would have been accessed by going to the main menu and selecting the corresponding Messages button. This likely would have replaced the "Message of the Day" system that was present.
Battle Bucks#
A scrapped currency, called "Battle Bucks", existed early in Battle Royale's Development. They appear to have been a currency separate from V-Bucks, and would have been earned for free by playing matches of Battle Royale.1 Additionally, players would have been able to purchase "Compendium Challenges" with Battle Bucks, which were challenge packs that rewarded the player with XP and Battle Bucks for completion.2 They were planned to be used in the Season Shop3 to buy Consumable Emotes (emotes that could only be used a limited number of times) and Victory Poses (presumably poses that would trigger upon getting a Victory Royale).4
The description was: "Currency earned by playing the Battle Royale game mode."
