Regional Differences#

To do:

  • Rip the voice samples.
  • More regional differences.

The international version, which was given the subtitle City Under Siege likely as an attempt to differentiate it from the arcade game, features some changes.

  • Both instances of the SEGA logo (the logo screen and the smaller version on the title screen) had their trademark symbols removed. The "ENHANCED SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS" on the title screen was replaced with the aforementioned new subtitle.
  • For whatever reason, two of the game's four voice samples were removed from the international version: VOICE3 ("Threat has been neutralised"), used when beating the final mission, and VOICE4 "Them the brakes(?)", used when beating a mission with your power armor on. The international version instead only plays VOICE2 ("Mission complete"), used when beating a mission without power armor in the Japanese version, for these situations.
  • The game now gives you 3 continues, as opposed to the Japanese version which doesn't give you any!
  • Destroying the destructible shutters in Mission 5 causes new ones to rise down in the Japanese version, making it very tricky to get past them. This no longer happens in the international version; the shutters stay permanently destroyed.
