Unused Graphics

This is a sub-page of Dreams of Aether.

Animation Blockings#

Leftover early animation blocking keyframes. They all pertain to different cutscene animations.

spr_c_arti_arti#

Artemis' animation from her introductory cutscene.

spr_c_hod_absa#

Absa's animation from Hodan's introductory cutscene.

spr_c_hod_hodan#

Hodan's animation from his introductory cutscene.

spr_c_intro_absa#

Absa's animation from the main intro cutscene.

spr_c_sylv_absa#

Absa's animation from Sylvanos' introductory cutscene.

spr_c_sylv_bone#

A single frame from Sylvanos' ending cutscene, of a simple bone. This bone was likely replaced by the stick used in-game.

Character Portraits#

Amongst the other character portraits used in the story is a set for Sandbert, the Workshop character created by the Rivals of Aether team as template character. While they have no role in Dreams outside of a minigame cameo, their render from Rivals and a darkened version are present.

Character Sprites#

An unused monochrome sprite of Añi, named spr_c_ani_dies.

Minigame Elements#

Batter Up#

The resulting dessert of this minigame has an unused version, named spr_m_mixbwl_cake_3. It depicts the dessert creature in a different position.

Reed in the Weeds#

The tile set of this minigame contains an unused checkered tile.

Snowbear Snowball#

Named "spr_m_etaball_indicator_backup", these are apparent fallback sprites of the minigame's target indicator.

Tou Hodan#

A small unused spirit sprite.

sprot#

A number of sprites related to an unused minigame, apparently named "sprot" internally. This name does not appear elsewhere internally, and these sprites go unused. Their internal names categorize them into difficulty levels.

Easy

Medium

Hard

Temporary Sprites#

Temporary sprites with unknown purposes. Their file names all begin with "spr_c_temp_". The giik sprites are likely related to the main developer Giik.

Test Sprites#

Miscellaneous test sprites. The faces were likely early versions of the sheep win/lose indicators.

Thumbnails#

Early, incredibly pixelated thumbnails for the minigames. A handful of minigames have notable differences, like the background of Clairen's Soul. There are also some placeholders.

The used thumbnails have more unused ones mixed in, though they are leftover duplicates from the early ones above. The identifiable ones are boss minigames, implying that the unknown and blank ones were also intended to be bosses.

HUD Elements#

A handful of deveopment-related trash icons.

A couple of blank "language_flag" icons, likely intended for the language setting.

A few debug-related buttons named "menu_button_debug".

Keys#

A plethora of old HUD icons that are slightly different from the used ones. One set is in the stylized colors, and the other is black and white, intended for custom controls. The used icons use the prefix _new internally.

Numblocks#

A set of numbered blocks with an unknown purpose.
