dreamGEAR My Arcade Retro Arcade Machine X
A tabletop arcade machine with 300 built-in games, including advanced ROM hacks of NES/Famicom games running on VT368 hardware.
Unused Compilation#
The entirety of the dreamGEAR My Arcade Retroplay Controller (also sold as the My Arcade Retro Machine, the predecessor to this console) is in the data, from address 02000000 to 02800000. However, two bytes were altered, making it only load F-22 instead. At addresses 0208000C-0208000D, replacing the reset vector address from E781 to EBC9 will allow the menu to run. Roughly 150 games present here are unused and inaccessible in the main 300-in-1 menu.
Both compilations use the same submapper, .13; while the mappers are not the same, they share the same submapper system. On its mapper 256 (OneBus) and this handheld's mapper 426 (Cube Tech VT368, based on OneBus), submapper .13 is tied to Taikee, a supplier of products with Cube Technology software built-in; Taikee was also the original supplier of the 200-in-1.
Scrapped Games#
There are a number of unused games inside of the system that are not part of the main menu. Some were seemingly excluded out of legal fear (namely Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., different Tetris versions, and Zuma or Luxor); a few others seem to be removed due to being flat-out broken (like with the Bokosuka Wars hack) or due to not fitting the target audience (like Lucky Chess). These unused games include:
Bean Eater |
Ms. Power-Ball |
Magic Cube |
Balls (a.k.a. Shapes) |
Triple |
Jumper |
Battle Station |
Maths Genius |
Lucky Candy |
Lucky Chess |
Gear Master |
Xtreme Robot |
Cube |
Love's Arrow |
Glass |
Kung Fu |
Clap Hands |
Table Tennis |
Zuma |
This datamining process was actually how these VT368 games were first dumped, since they were not selectable in any so far dumped system.
Another mini arcade from the same supplier, the Taikee Micro Arcade Machine, had a variant called Red5 Mini Arcade Machine, which replaced some of these games with Nice Code & Waixing games: Zuma, Cube, Bean Eater, Pea Eater, Balls, Triple, and Jumper.1 This compilation was likely made after one of the censored variants.
Furthermore, there are even more games that are unused in the Retro Arcade Machine X, though were left intact in other censored mini arcades developed by Cube (such as the Multicade 230 and its variant, the rev0 of Thumbs Up! Mini Arcade Machine).
