Cocoto: Platform Jumper (Game Boy Advance)

A "conversion" of a Rainbow Islands clone that came out three years after the original. Weird.

To do:

A lot of uncompiled source code can be found scattered across the ROM.
Look for any possible remnants of the unused levels.
Find the way to unlock the cheat menu, and provide screenshots. (Speculated: losing on a bonus level or related to the "SELECT" gamepad button))

Cheat Menu#

A cheat menu exist in the game. After being unlocked, is is accesible by selecting "Options" on the main menu. It lets you select:

The world
The stage (from 1 to 4, then bonus)
The skill (easy, normal or hard)
Number of lives (From 1 to 99 then Infinite)
Time limit (see 0x36F2B8 - 0x36F32B)
Bonus (from 0 to 4)
"No apple"/"all apples" switch

The background is the same as the current selected world. Upon confirming and starting a new game, it will show the level finish screen before loading in the selected level.

Unused Text#

Cut Levels#

Between 0x36D285 and 0x36D300, the text for the level intro screens can be found, including two (possibly) cut worlds named Destiny and No Man's Land, along with text for boss levels, which aren't present in this version of the game.

Cut Bosses#

Between 0x36E144 to 0x36E65C, and 0x36E684 to 0x36EAC4, are names for the game's entities

Unused Graphics#

A sprite for the Cocoto website is loaded in the title screen but left unused.

Full Font#

Several letters and symbols are normally never used but can be seen by changing the text of the game with a hex editor.

Boss health#

Sprites for the bosses health. With the boss stages being cut, it is left unused.

Development Text#

Near the end of the ROM, between 0x371CA4 and 0x371CDA, is a string identifying the presence and version of the Krawall sound engine. The date mentioned, 2005-04-21, is the latest known version of Krawall.
