This iteration of Clue brought the board game to Windows 95/98 computers at the peak of FMV, with standard CD audio used for the music. While most overlook this version for the newer Clue Classic, this one is just as good.
Regional Differences#
Other countries had the same exact game disc, albeit with a different name in certain countries (such as Cluedo). Translations did happen between the games, which could explain its late release date.
Revisional Differences#
An updated version was released in many parts of the US during the 2000-01 quarter through General Mills cereal boxes. This disc is mostly identical to the 1998 original, with the following differences:
- The game has been recoded to run on 32-bit systems (such as Windows 2000/XP).
- Various bugfixes.
- A LightDog installer and other demo programs are included.
- The music is removed, possibly as a cost-cutting measure. The code for the music to play is still present, however, and if the 1998 disc is inserted the music will play as normal.
