Checkmate II

Checkmate II is the sequel to the Game Boy game Checkmate, a chess simulator. Interestingly, that game was only released in Japan, yet the game and its packaging were also entirely playable in English.

Unused Music#

The last audio track in the game's disc, which consists of a differently-mixed version of one of the background tracks, is never actually used. In fact, it is referred to as a dummy in the filesystem.

Unused Graphics#

In the European version's executable, there are logos for the companies Phoenix Games and Mere Mortals, which are loaded upon booting. However, two unused logos for Mud Duck Productions and Midas Interactive Entertainment also exist.

There is a some sort of relationship regarding the inclusion of those two logos, as there is a considerable overlap between PlayStation titles Midas and Phoenix Games published in Europe, while Mud Duck Productions managed to release some of the Midas-published titles in North America.
