In 2021, Piko Interactive acquired the rights to re-release the game on the Evercade. However, they couldn't get the rights to Barkley's likeness. Consequently, the Evercade version is retitled Hoops: Shut Up and Jam and replaces him with Joe Hoops, represented by a Getty Images stock photo of a scowling Black man pasted over the athlete's face. (Amusingly, this image is one of the first Google Image Search results for "angry black man.")
