This is a sub-page of Proto:WipEout Pure.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

To do:

  • Search for difference
  • Put a yt link of the early version of Cross the Line

A prototype of WipEout Pure. This early prototype shows a few interesting ideas like a content manager, downloadable billboards, a non working install feature (to economise battery), etc...

General Difference#

  • Going in the progression part and clicking (even without any medal) let you see concept arts (instead of needing the corresponding gold medal, though it could be for testing), except that while there are concept art in the file, the only things you can see is :
  • The code in the November 18 prototype is Left, Right, Left, Square, Circle, Square. It sets the value at 08ad3a1c, but that doesn't actually get read by anything - so the unlock effect isn't yet implemented.

  • PIC0 and PIC1 are different:

WipEout-Pure-PIC0.PNG
WipEout-Pure-PIC1.PNG
Somehow PIC0, PIC1, ICON0.PMF and SND0.AT3 manages to date to the December 1st 2004 and the PARAM.SFO dates to January 17th 2005, all of the other files on the disc are dating from build's date or earlier.

Early Music And Mixes#

While other early mixes exist amongst the different prototypes of the game (read uncut versions of the retail music), this one is radically different to the retail version!

Cross the line

This build also contain a track completely cut from the game, called (I Wanna Be) Waiting For My Plane by Laurent Garnier, which do not appear in future builds, the album from which it is from released a few month later after the game's release (according to musicbrainz)

Notes#

While these are absent from the games files, the racetracks released as free DLC were already worked on since, like the final game, there are the same holes between the base game's racetracks numbers.
