This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace. |
The Korean version of the Undertale demo has traits that suggest that it was built off of a version of the demo made later than the English versions.
It also contains some interesting unused content not found in the other versions.
General Differences#
- This demo is obviously fully translated into Korean, which the final game doesn't have as a supported language
- Some unused dialog is translated, such as the descriptions for the Tough Glove and Manly Bandanna.
- The close button works, and it makes the game act like you're holding the Esc key.
- The dialog for the candy bowl and the dialog asking if you want to take the Monster Candy are split into two separate text boxes in this version, whereas in the other demos, this dialog is in one text box. This is likely due to the size of the Korean text.
- The second line of Toriel's Diary has a gap in between "뼈에" and "사무치게 외로워서..." in the May 1st build, that was fixed in the July 20th build.

Room Differences#

Demo |
Korean Demo |

|
The first room of the Ruins has a bunch of missing tiles for some reason, mostly at the bottom. Besides that, it seems to be much more similar to the final game compared to the other demos' versions. What's even weirder is that it isn't like this when viewed in a decompiler. It instead appears identical to the version found in the earlier demos.
Interestingly enough is that the Korean version also includes the bg_ruinsfixedstairs sprite in this room, which was completely missing from the English version of the Demo, making the stairs look like the final game. The cracks in the pillars do not show in this demo's version of the room, however.
Developer's Message (Translated)#
A version of the "Attention, Hackerz" developer message that can be found in the English version of the Demo but fully translated to Korean titled "이걸 보는 사람에게". The original English version of the script can no longer be found as it was deleted from the project.
Unused Fonts#
Some new Fonts can be found inside of the Korean Demo that are not present in any other version of the Undertale Demo, none of these Fonts made it into the final game either.
fnt_courier_new
fnt_times_new_roman
fnt_tahoma
The only font here that is technically used is Tahoma, being only used in the unused "rmrm_example_3" room.
Unused Text#
Doge#
The unused Doge monster has a translated name and ACTs seen in SCR_TEXT:
도지
ACTs#
* 탐색 * 부른다 * 씻어준다 * 말린다 * 산책 * 쓰다듬는다
Additionally, she has a new line of dialog in this version of the demo in her obj file, set to trigger if her Mercy modifier is 102. In the final game, this dialog appears when the Stick is used on Doge. All of her dialog is still in English in this demo.
Hey!!
That
was
fun!!
Unused Rooms#
rmrm_example_3#
A test room that's only present in this version of the demo. It seems to have been used to test the dialogue boxes. There are also 4 scripts exclusive to this demo that may be used here (scr_shake, draw_text_edit, sex_draw_text, and sex_set_font).
Unused Items#
The files of the Korean demo feature two extra Items not seen in any of the other version of the Undertale demo, that being the Tough Glove and the Manly Bandanna. These seem to be leftovers from when Snowdin was being developed.
case argument0=14: //tough mitten
case argument0=15: //mandanna
When modded into the demo, the Tough Glove is fully functional, using the early "Press Z" sprite.
