This article has a talk page!

This is a sub-page of Proto:Thrill Kill.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors.
This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment.
Such as:
Visible nipples.

To do:

  • See if there is a way to bypass any demo lockouts.
  • Check for gameplay differences, are all the finishing moves present, if so, are the animations different?

General#

  • Only the Versus Mode is available, with the default characters available to choose from.
  • The three unlockable stages are not included on the stage select.

  • The initial warning screen, main menu and character select icons all match what is seen in the July 9th build.
  • Files related to the Practice Mode are nowhere to be seen, this includes the stage and the Gimp character.
  • Pause menu is different.

Demo#

As mentioned above, only Versus Mode is available. You are free to choose any of the default characters, number of CPUs and stages, but the demo skips the Game Mode selection that is available in the final game. After setting up a game, a screen displaying the controls is shown before loading into the stage. ThrillKill_CONTROL_Still.png

After the fight is finished, the following two screens are displayed, after which the demo goes back to the title screen.

Characters#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: How about the models themselves? Someone would first need to rip them.

Several character textures were changed, with these differences also carried over to the character select icons. Though the icons remain the same in the July 9th build, the characters themselves were already updated by that point. Additionally, unlockable fifth outfits do not exist yet.

Cain#

  • Otherwise identical, but the fourth costume has one extra alternate texture.

Dr. Faustus#

  • Oddly, in this build his files are all named "GRIMBOD" instead of "DOCTOR".

The Imp#

  • The second outfit has very, very minor differences to the textures, mainly being slightly brighter compared to the final.
  • The fourth outfit has the same exact minor differences as above. While the texture for the mohawk is identical, it is rendered as all black in this build instead of the intended green.

Judas#

  • Only two out of the four outfits exist at this point.
  • The first outfit resembles the final design, but the other half is depicted with a slightly darker skintone instead of bluish grey skin. The face texture is also a unique one, with an open mouth and a droopy eye, while the final design used a recolored copy of the other half.

Tormentor#

  • The, erm, crotch textures for both the third and fourth outfits were different.

Violet#

  • The first outfit was blue and lacked the Frankenstein style stitches.

Music#

  • Audio tracks 2, 3, 4 and 12 from the final build are the only tracks present, along with an extra track of silence.
  • Tracks 2 and 3 are otherwise identical, but mastered more quiet in this build.
  • Track 5 (12 in the final build) is the tune that plays during a "Thrill Kill" and on the Continue screen. Generally louder in this build and has some additional sound effects at the start.

Miscellaneous#

  • On the root of the disc is a file not present in later builds named "THRILL.ID", the contents of which is the following string:
This is a Thrill Kill CD. Enjoy your game !!!
  • The "FRONT" folder contains a placeholder STR file named "YEAH", which is just a silent still image for 10 seconds.
