Mountain of Magic

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Spyro: Shadow Legacy.

Main Area#

  • This area can suffer severely glitched tiles and palettes at random.
  • There's a phase pad that greets you in the first area, but it's been removed in the final (probably because there's another one just a little to the left just above).
  • The fires for the heating crystals appear a little too much over the side.

Prototype

Final

  • The doors to the four rooms on the east reopen constantly until the screen fades.
    • Regardless of which one you enter, you will always come out of the bottom one.
  • There is an iron chest containing an Eyeball at the east. There's another Eyeball in a basket in the door just above it, so there are 2 Eyeball items instead of one. Since you only need 1 to complete the quest, you can only pick one of them up.

Prototype

Final

  • In the second small room from the top, the two iron chests contain no items, just gems. In the final, they contain crystals. The two vases are also absent.

Prototype

Final

  • The room with a crystal at the front has nothing but a yeti in there.
  • The first room from the top contains a single dragon egg. In the final, there are two, plus a vase.

Prototype

Final

  • The large door has a broken magic forcefield over it.
  • There are Lookouts present in the real world instead of the shadow realm in here.
  • The shadow platform is very, very small in the prototype, but it can be walked on as though it were bigger.

Prototype

Final

  • Like with the armadillos, the wizards do not phase out after being saved. They just disappear.
  • A Long Legs is absent from a platform in the west.
  • Spyro can move through the background at the back of the level.
  • A rock has been moved over slightly on the hover pad. Not that it matters much, because in both the prototype and the final, Spyro can hover above it even with the rock there.

Prototype

Final

  • The periscopes above it are absent.
  • The cutscene has different text. There are some significant changes (as well as some mild errors), as well as more emphasis on Spyro's next objective.

Final

And so the wizards, their magic powers weakened but not destroyed, returned to this world and Dragon Realms slowly returned to its original state, thanks to Spyro. But someone was plotting to undo all of Spyro's hard work.

I've been using my magic to search for the cause of the Calamity. I've found something. This was the machine that opened the Shadow Realm. It's some kind of magic intensifier. Someone used it to project a magic spell over the entire world.

Now there's a new machine Ø one that is bigger, stronger, more powerful. It appears that whomever is behind this has perfected the design This machine will pull people back into the Shadow Realm Ø and keep them there Ø forever.

But wait, there's more! These strange buildings have popped up in Dragon Realms and Avalar. As you can see, this one is generating cold air that has frozen the Sea Dragon in the harbour. You'll need that ship to make it to Avalar, Spyro, so you'll have to go in there and find out what's going on.

And so the wizards, their magic powers weakened but not destroyed, returned to this world and Dragon Realms slowly returned to its original state, thanks to Spyro. But someone was plotting to undo all of Spyro's hard work.

Spyro! I found some disturbing information that I have to share with you.

Using my magic, I searched for the cause of the Calamity. Now look what I found: the machine that opened the Shadow Realm. It's some kind of magnifier that projects a magic spell over the entire world.

It gets worse. There's a new machine. One that's bigger, stronger, more powerful. And this one doesn't just open doors to the Shadow Realm. It pulls people back into, and keeps them there. Forever.

  • Little bit of text revisions here and there.

That`s right! It`s simple, yet very effective.

Aviary#

  • Midian's rescue text hasn't been programmed, and reads as "Midian_RescueThanks".
  • The shadow gate in the aviary disappears instead of fading out.
  • Longorin's text for saving the other wizards has different placement and strange highlighting.

Noble Dragon, if you could find it
in your heart to save the
other wizards, you would have
my undying gratitude.

  • The cutscene does not activate immediately; to activate it, Spyro must enter the aviary, phase in and out of the shadow realm to start it.
  • During the cutscene, Spyro starts to spin around. Constantly.
  • The wizards' leader, Panthanitis explains how to relight the cauldron. In the final, it's Pastemolle. There's minor changes to the text placement, and strange highlighting on the last sentence:

Prototype

You must light the fires with your wondrous breath all at once, and quickly, or the flames will die out.

  • Although the prompt for them appears, you can't talk to the wizards after accepting the cauldron quest, therefore making it impossible to complete.
    • Needless to say, the remaining quests cannot be activated or completed either.
