Ubisoft Build

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:South Park: The Stick of Truth (Windows).

To do:
WAY more:

  • Leftover unused content from earlier builds.
  • Lots and lots and LOTS more differences.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

The only available Ubisoft build, build #1188 was uncovered from the most unlikely of places; SteamDB. A commit was left open by accident, allowing anyone who owned the game to download the prototype. The commit has since been closed.

build_version.txt reveals that it was compiled on September 26, 2013, predating the final build by around 6 months. While most of the game is already finalized, it still contains a TON of small differences and leftovers from other prototypes.

Debug Console#

A debug console can be opened by pressing 0 on the keyboard.

General Differences#

Proto

The loading screen in the prototype is a short pre-rendered animation of the Stick of Truth with a glowing effect behind it. This was changed to a blurry preview of the area being loaded.

The Home menu has quite a few differences:

  • In general, the text appears thicker.
  • The globe icon in the top left is misssing.
  • The New Kid's status is missing.
  • The current buddy's stats are shown next to the New Kid's stats, which was removed from the final game.
  • The counter next to the Mana bar was removed.
  • The Friends tab was moved to the Collectables section in the final game.

Proto

Final

The afformentioned Friends tab displayed the names of the characters below their icons. It was also more spaced out.

The Abilities appears to be unfinished and very different:

  • The upgrade icons were changed from stars to Roman numerals.
    • Every Ability origially had 3 upgrades instead of 4.
  • The lock graphics were different and displayed the level required to unlock the upgrade.
  • The text "Points to Spend" in the top right was changed to "Upgrade Available".

The Magic tab is even more unfinished.

Proto

For some reason, the Map tab uses an image taken from DigitalGlobe as a placeholder. The map icons are completely different, and the previews of the areas are missing.

Proto

Final

The right side of the Party tab was completely redesigned. Some buddies were in different positions.

The Perks tab is also unfinished. Despite there being 9 slots, only 5 actually work.
