This is a sub-page of Proto:Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution.
At the 2003 New York Toy Fair, Jakks Pacific showed off several plug & play demos, Including Shantae TV. Shantae TV was eventually released to the public in the 2024 Wayforward lot, though is currently not emulatable.
"Shantae TV: Plug in and Play!
Shantae makes an appearance at Toy Fair!
Although not a fully green-lit project, Shantae TV was on display at the 2003 Toy Fair running on SunPlus technology. Developed by WayForward, the game fits into a stand-alone controller that plugs directly into a TV through AV cables. The game is for the most part indistinguishable from its GBA counterpart, other than the extra vertical screen space (TV screen is slightly larger than the Game Boy Advance). Whether or not a full project is developed is yet to be seen. The final project would likely be a linear arcade game, and share similarities with the TV Games game/joysticks released by Jakks Pacific this past year. And for the last time, no...there was not a girl dressed up like Shantae at the convention. "

- Compared to the demo, Shantae TV only contains one level.
- There are only 2 background layers instead of 4.

While Shantae TV is not emulatable, there have been efforts to extract graphics from it.

- Both demos use a large 256 color bitmap for their title screen.
- Battle mode is not in this demo.
- There is no menu cursor for this title screen. Instead, the player is simply requested to press any button to begin.
- Different stock art for Shantae is used. This is notably the same art used in the GBA demo's pause menu and Features screen.
Level Differences#
The only level in this demo is the FOREST level from the original GBA demo, though slightly modified.

- Only the first layer is included here.
- Shantae TV stores levels as metatile maps, rather than actual proprietary layouts. The map is cleaner cut as a result.
- The level itself is larger, to accommodate the screen size.
