This is a sub-page of Proto:PlayStation 4.

Firmware version 0.915, dated 9 months before the release of the PS4 (February 2013) has a lot of differences compared to the final firmware. This firmware was found on a DEHT series PS4 devkit.

Differences#

  • The user icon is completely different, depicting a book with a person on the cover.
  • There's a Settings icon on the top right of the screen, which was changed to a Trophy icon in the final firmware.
  • Very different home screen design with names below icons instead of next to icons.
  • The devkit info is at the bottom right, where on later firmwares it's on the top left.
  • The background is completely different, having no wave effect.
  • The button icons aren't colored.
  • The Connect to the Internet dialog uses an image of the original PS3 model.
  • Very preliminary Safe Mode, with only 5 options and different names.
  • The console is known as $PFName$.
  • The list buttons use the PlayStation Vita style.
  • The options in the Settings menu has a wrench icon in all options.

Early User Icons#

In system/priv/etc, there's other early user icons. The registered icon is a slightly squished version of the one used on the PS3, and the guest icon is a generic "person" icon which is completely different from the one used in the release firmware.
