0.90 XMB

This article has a talk page!

This is a sub-page of Proto:PlayStation 3.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • What is the single tab under ‘Game’ supposed to be? I can’t tell if it’s a game or a downloaded file.
  • Are the model and controller images on the turn off selection screen really prototypes?

This prototype XMB changed from 0.85.

Differences#

  • The background is no longer a blue gradient, instead, it's a solid black background. The wave has been added to the system files, but the system does not use them.
  • The turn off selection screen now features a prototype PS3 model if Turn off the system is hovered and similarly, a prototype SixAxis controller if Turn off this controller is hovered. The prototype model and SixAxis controller may be from the time this build was made.

"Turn off the system"

"Turn off this controller"

  • The Users tab now features an option to create a user and the lists the users on the system, like in the final build.
  • The sounds were updated from 0.85, albeit they have still not been finalised yet.
  • An early version of the PS3's coldboot and gameboot sounds were added in the build's files, although they are not used.

Unused Early Sounds#

There is an early unused startup sound and an early unused gameboot sound in the files of the firmware, they are very different from the final.

Unused Early Coldboot#

There's an unused coldboot in the firmware that appears to be an earlier version of the final's coldboot. It's disabled and unused. The early coldboot wave grows from right to left. Watch on YouTube

Early Other OS Name#

At this point in time, the Other OS feature was referred to as Expansion OS Settings.
